How To install apps on Windows 10 without Store

With the Microsoft Store, you can easily install applications on your Windows 10 device, just like in Google Play or the Apple App Store. IT departments frequently remove Microsoft Store from devices to prevent users from installing all kinds of apps.

But some apps, such as the Microsoft ToDo app, are only available in the Store. So how do you install these kinds of apps on a Windows 10 device without a store?

With the help of the Microsoft Online Store, a URL converter and a bit of PowerShell, you can install any application on your computer without a store.

Install Microsoft ToDo without Store

We’re going to use the Microsoft ToDo app as an example of how you can download and install apps without a store, but of course you can use it for any app.

Step 1 – Find the URL of the app

So the first step is to find the app’s URL in the Microsoft Store online. You don’t need the actual store for this, you can just use your browser to open the Store. If you found an app you want to install, just copy the url from the address bar.

The URL for the Microsoft ToDo app is:

We need to convert the link to actual Microsoft Store items. For this purpose, we will use the website https://store.rg-adguard.net.

Paste the url and make sure you have changed RP to Retail

Step 3 – Download the appxBundle

When you click on the checked mark, it will find all related applications. Most of the time the results start with the .Net Framework which is required for the application but can be omitted. Somewhere in the middle you’ll find appxBundles packages for Microsoft ToDo.

Make sure you have selected the latest version, ignore the date column, just check the version number. Also make sure you have selected appxBundle and not eappxBundle. The latter is intended for the Xbox console.

To download the appxbundle package, copy the link and paste it in a new browser tab. Just clicking on a link doesn’t always work, but opening it in a new tab seems to do the trick.

Step 4 – Use PowerShell to install the appxBundle

The last step is to install Microsoft ToDo with PowerShell.

Microsoft Todo should now be installed without the need for a store.

After the scan is complete, check to see if the Microsoft Store is in the update or download queue. If a Microsoft Store update is available, installation will start automatically. You can also click the download icon next to Microsoft Store to manually start the installation.

2 – Built for gaming

Games have always been the backbone of Windows, and the new Microsoft Store will give you access to the full variety of games in our ecosystem. Along with a series of casual games (such as Candy Crush Soda Saga and Microsoft Solitaire Collection) and classics such as Minecraft, we have built a seamless connection with the Xbox app where gamers will find easy access to the community and a wide selection of over 100 great PC games available as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription – from Microsoft Flight Simulator to Sea of Thieves. In fact, the incredible season of PC games will kick off this October, with releases including Age of Empires IV on October 28, Forza Horizon 5 on November 9, and Halo Infinite on December 8. All three games will be available on the Xbox Game Ultimate Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC owners on Day One.

We redesigned the Microsoft Store in Windows 11 from the ground up paying attention to every detail and listening to customer feedback. The Microsoft Store is now 35% faster to open and navigate between pages than ever before. It has a new, improved design with animations that smoothly guide you from one side to the other, and subtle lighting effects that show the details of the spotlights. The product detail pages have also been updated to highlight the unique content of each developer while maintaining consistency between content types. The redesigned library will help you keep track of installed applications and updates.

We know searching is important, and we’ve got more planned – we’ll show you additional improvements in the coming months.

Highlighted product sheets help customers find relevant content

Highlighted product sheets help customers find relevant content.

This is a strange error and to fix the problem you have to wait until all your apps are updated. After updating the application, restart the Windows Store and try to buy the applications again.

Instead of browsing through individual categories, you can just search for an app, game, movie, or TV show. Enter your search term in the top search bar. You can then refine your search by selecting Apps, Games, Movies, or TV Shows.

Your searches can be further refined by a few additional factors. Click the Filters button in the upper right corner to filter by age group and type (free, paid or on promotion). Depending on the section you choose, you should be able to filter by additional criteria, such as the category or type of subscription.

Manage Library

Find something you want to download? Select the appropriate application. If it’s free, click the Download button. For paid applications, click the button with the price.

To have bookmarks on downloaded or purchased items, click the Library icon at the bottom of the left sidebar. Click Open next to a specific application to launch it. Click the ellipsis icon to share the app, pin it to the taskbar, or pin it to the Start menu.

Click the Get Updates button to get all the latest updates for your apps. If an app displays a cloud icon next to it, you have downloaded it to another computer or device. This is where you can find and download applications and games for your computer. Now they are slightly different from the programs you downloaded from the Internet and installed with the standard Setup.exe file. While still supported on Windows 10, the Store provides an even richer everyday experience.

Solution 2 – Check your antivirus

According to users, antivirus software may be the main cause of this problem. Antivirus applications are critical to online safety, but can sometimes interfere with some Windows components and cause problems.

Many users reported that the Windows Store does not allow the purchase of applications with Kaspersky Antivirus being the main cause of the problem. To solve the problem, open the antivirus settings and change their configuration. If that doesn’t work, you may need to temporarily disable your antivirus program.

At worst, you will have to remove the antivirus from your computer and see if that fixes the problem. While users have reported Kaspersky as the main problem, other antivirus tools can also cause this problem, so even if you don’t have Kaspersky, try this solution.

If removing the antivirus program resolves the problem, we advise you to switch to another antivirus software.

To solve this problem, you should consider effective antivirus with free VPN that can fix Windows 10 Store problems by changing geolocation address.

Solution 3 – Reset Windows Store cache

If the Windows Store doesn’t allow you to buy an app, the problem may be with the cache. The Windows Store has its own cache and can become corrupted at times. If the cache is corrupted, you can run into various issues with the Store. However, you can always clear the cache by running one app. To do so, follow these simple steps:

This is more of a workaround than a solution, but users have reported that it works. Just log in with a different Windows 10 account, go to the Windows Store, and when prompted for login credentials, enter the login information for your primary account. This will allow you to purchase the application for your account.

After upgrading from 8.1 to 10 using the media creation tool, Windows 10 worked fine for one day, but suddenly my taskbar stopped responding .. so I went back to 8.1. After a few days, I updated my computer again to win 10, and this time my internet speed became too slow. So I went back to 8.1 again.
