Flash memory is probably the most complex of all as it is basically a term that encompasses different types of media. Whether you’re looking for a microSD card or a USB flash drive, they all use flash memory to expand the capabilities of your devices.
HDDs can be heard because they are spinning. HDD drives in smaller enclosures (e.g. 2.5 inches) are quieter. SSDs are integrated circuits with no moving parts and therefore generate no noise during operation.
A typical hard drive consists of a spindle that contains one or more flat circular disks (called platters) on which data is written. The discs are made of a non-magnetic material and are covered with a thin layer of magnetic material. The read / write heads are placed on top of the disks. The discs rotate at very high speed with the help of a motor. A typical hard drive has two electric motors, one to rotate the discs and the other to position the read / write head assembly. Data is written to a platter that spins next to the read / write heads. The read / write head can detect and modify the magnetization of the material directly below it.
By contrast, SSDs use microchips and have no moving parts. SSD components include the controller, which is an embedded processor that executes software at the firmware level, and is one of the most important performance factors for an SSD; a cache that also stores a directory of block placement and anti-wear data; and an energy storage – a capacitor or batteries – so that cached data can be transferred to the drive when the power is turned off. The primary storage component in an SSD has been volatile DRAM since they were first developed, but as of 2009 it is more often NAND flash. SSD performance can scale with the number of parallel NAND flash chips used in the device.A single NAND chip is relatively slow. When multiple NAND devices run in parallel on an SSD, bandwidth scales up and high latency can be hidden, as long as enough backlogs are in progress and the load is evenly distributed between devices.

Yes, SSDs have some limitations on the number of read / write operations supported. But these are hundreds of thousands (maybe millions). And thanks to the new technology, the threshold is constantly raised. So, newer SSDs have a longer life expectancy than the ones you may have purchased last year.

SDD (MCL) has approximately 10,000 read and write cycles! So if your OS isn’t SSD optimized, it will wear it out quickly! Notice how many flash drives failed when you tried to use them!
There are SCL SSDs that can do 100,000 writes, but they are extremely expensive.
Then you get Enterprise (industrial) MCLs which do 30k writes but
And the biggest one, but it’s coming: it’s time to stretch! If you don’t use the eMCL drive for 3 months, all data will be lost. I think it is 1 year for MCL and longer for SCL?
SO no one writes how nonsense that is! I installed one on my laptop (no important data) and testing it. The system boots much faster so I even plan to install it on my desktop, but only for the operating system and all data will be stored on the hard drive.
