Best RTX 2070 SUPER Graphics Cards. When is the rtx 2070 super coming out

Now the RTX 2070 Super isn’t a compact card, and even the Zotac Mini version is a bit bulky. That said, it’s always a good idea to be on the safe side and check the dimensions of the card you receive as well as the dimensions of your case, i.e the case you plan on getting in the future.

Best RTX 2070 SUPER Graphics Cards

Choosing the best RTX 2070 Super for your specific use case can be more difficult than you think. First, you have to decide if it’s worth switching from GTX to RTX at all? Nvidia refreshed its lineup of Turing GPUs by introducing the “Super” moniker in 2019, and the RTX 2070 Super replaced the previous RTX 2070 in Nvidia’s arsenal. It is also built on a 12nm process and uses the TU104 GPU in its core in the TU104-410-A1 variant. This variation of the GPU has a large matrix area of 545 mm 2 and the number of transistors 13,600 million. Unlike the normal RTX 2070, the RTX 2070 Super uses the same GPU in truncated form as the RTX 2080 Super. RTX 2070 Super is a powerful graphics card even in 2022).

RTX 2070 Super graphics cards in 2021

A detailed RTX 2070 buyer’s guide.

The RTX 2070 Super is slightly more powerful than the normal RTX 2070 which is closer to the RTX 2060 Super than the RTX 2070 Super. The power consumption of the card is also moderate, reaching a maximum power of 215W as indicated by the TDP figures. Incidentally, it’s important to note the differences between TDP, TGP, and TBP when it comes to graphics cards. This amount of thermal power means it’s worth spending a little extra on the graphics card to get a decent variant as the RTX 2070 Super has a tendency to warm up at full load. That’s why it’s worth investing in one of the best RTX 2070 Super variants to keep your graphics card cool and quiet.

Now we turn to those performance gains that are most certainly real. However, I suspect that behind at least some of the magic of the Super lineage, there may be a well-known process known as “binning”. (Remember: not that it’s bad.)

AMD’s new “Navi” line of graphics cards was merely a surprise when AMD introduced it to E3 (the leaks did so), but one GPU maker still has a few surprises in store. With the GeForce RTX Super family, Nvidia is introducing three new graphics cards that will hit the market this month. (The launch of AMD Navi on July 7 will add more.) Deep to the neck in the world of GPUs, just like us, even we were a bit surprised by the sudden arrival of the Supers. We were also surprised by today’s review topic: Delivering speeds close to the GeForce RTX 2080 at a much lower price point, the $ 499 RTX 2070 Super is a rocket in its price range. The card consistently lived up to and exceeded our expectations when we ran some overclocking tests.Perhaps Nvidia broke the market last August with its first RTX cards, but it’s skillful.

Since 1982, PCMag has tested and evaluated thousands of products to help you make better purchasing decisions. (See how we test.)

Building a Better RTX 2070

When Nvidia first announced its GeForce RTX line of cards last August, this disclosure first met with “ooh” and “ahh” followed quickly by a loud “uu” as the prices were announced: $ 499 for the RTX 2070 $ 699 for the RTX 2080 and a hefty $ 999 for the RTX 2080 Ti. (These prices were the starting prices for his stock or reference boards, not to be confused with the slightly raised “Founders Edition” cards of Nvidia.)

Good graphics cards have never been the cheapest upgrade component for your gaming PC, but this new pricing paradigm that Nvidia has established with RTX cards puts RTX 2070 and higher cards on the high end for most people, with the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti essentially establishing a new “elite” price class. It was no longer a high-end card that everyone would want $ 500 or $ 699 on the outside, as is the case with the GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. The top-of-the-line RTX cards were well above the price tag.

And this influenced their adoption, here almost a year to the first RTX cards. According to the Steam Hardware Survey, GeForce RTX cards account for less than 3 percent of the total GPU pool used by players on Steam, while the cheaper / legacy “Pascal” GeForce GTX 10 options account for more than 40 percent of the systems that report to the poll.

With such a huge gap in adoption rates, Nvidia took a bit of a stray from RTX last year in an effort to convince gamers that GeForce RTX is the way forward (that is: among cards designed primarily for AAA, single-player games) while reducing the price difference for With cheaper options such as the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti without RTX, the cards are geared more towards esports-focused gamers and budget-conscious buyers playing at 1080p.

With that in mind, Nvidia now has three new weapons in the RTX arsenal. Come in, the “Super” line: Consisting of three cards – GeForce RTX 2060 Super, RTX 2070 Super and RTX 2080 Super – these GPUs, according to Nvidia’s claims, should be on average 15 percent faster than their other -Super counterparts. The RTX 2060 Super is $ 399, just $ 50 more than the version without Super, and the RTX 2070 Super is $ 499. Both will be available for sale on July 8. The RTX 2080 Super will go on sale for $ 699 on July 23.

While retaining both the RTX and Tensor cores that make the RTX line stand out (and which enable ray tracing and DLSS), the Super line looks like Nvidia’s second attempt to convince gamers that it is worth investing in RTX in 2019, despite the fact that it is looming a year after the first RTX cards were released, ray tracing is still being rolled out to only a few popular titles. (The biggest ones at the moment remain Battlefield V, Metro Exodus, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.)

But without a mention of an architectural redesign or the introduction of new heavy tech under the hood, what makes Super cards so “cool”? This is, um, a super-big question.

If you’re looking to buy a new RTX 2070S graphics card, perhaps you already have a goal in mind. Whether it’s the highest factory OC, the best price-performance ratio, or just a card that will fit into a mini-ITX chassis, there are some things to keep in mind when choosing the best RTX 2070 SUPER graphics card.

TRACES OF BRILLIANCE

Beneath all the metal are multi-layer electric highways that make up the circuit board. They connect all the essential components and allow them to communicate at lightning speed.

Finally, the back plate. Like RGB, backplates are slowly making their way to the lower price ranges, and in 2022 it is not uncommon to find them even in budget graphics cards like the GTX 1650 Super.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super

The NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super is a mid-range card that every enthusiast will love. It offers similar performance to last year’s RTX 2080 for hundreds less. This is the perfect option if you need a higher frame rate for a 120Hz or 144Hz gaming monitor.

GeForce RTX 2070 Super

Initially, we ridiculed Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2070 Founders Edition. The GeForce RTX 2070 Super fixes this with the higher FPS we wanted to see when Turing was first launched. Apparently, AMD required AMD to get Nvidia to think about value. But now we can enjoy the native version of Nvidia for a more reasonable $ 500.

Offering close to RTX 2080 performance and similar specs, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super delivers solid 4K gameplay at 60Hz and a high refresh rate at 1440p. This is a deadly card for money.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super offers better performance as well as a lower price, making it a much more attractive purchase for more regular users.

The new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER graphics card is out now, delivering $ 1199 performance from the TITAN Xp for $ 499, while custom cards are just around the corner and give you even more punches.

In short, the RTX 2070 Super is a great buy, and even better if you stick to DLSS and ray tracing.

I’m just not sure the RTX 2070 Super is worth it. It’s better, for example, it’s just plain, and I have to admit that Nvidia’s Super RTX’s new gaming bundle helps sweeten the deal a bit, the cheapest RTX 2070 is $ 20 cheaper than the base price of the RTX 2070 Super.

The GeForce RTX 2070 Super is all that was good for the 2070, plus about 10-15 percent more performance, for the same price.

Nvidia has overtaken the new NAVI launch by AMD and offers some serious competitors in terms of price-performance. Is it enough now to keep the lead in the GPU race?

The new RTX Super line is sure to crank up AMD’s temperature, which prices the RX 5700 XT at $ 450 (for now). The RX 5700 XT will definitely not be able to match the performance of the RTX 2070 Super and we have doubts whether the thermals or noise will be comparable, which could make a $ 50 increase to the Super very legitimate for potential customers, or force AMD to lower prices.

Reference cards have poor design and cooling. The cooling capacity of the reference coolers is for 125W GPUs. Nearly double GPUs MUST be designed with three fans in order to maintain the right temperature. In terms of performance and power consumption, the 2070 Super is in line with the regular 2080, thanks to faster boost clocks and less cumulative power of the GDDR 5 RAM, but at a more economical price. When used in an open case, 24/7 deep learning beats AMD’s similar offerings with its ability to maintain a boost speed of just 150W after tuning. AMD does the same at 190W, so AMD loses $ 40 a year in electricity compared to Nvidia. For gamers, AMD might be the right choice.

1 ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce 2070 Super OC 8 GB – Best ASUS RTX 2070 SUPER Graphics Card

ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce 2070 Super is based on a tried and tested cooling design. It is a high-end graphics card, available in three different versions. The difference is that one of them has no factory overclock, one has a slight overclock, and the other is significantly overclocked right out of the box. We tested, of course, a much improved version.

Besides, all boost timers have the same basic design and characteristics. All three cards feature ASUS Aura Sync RGB technology and Strix cooling with three fans, making it easy to overclock the clock.

Specifications

  • Memory: 8 GB 256-bit GDDR6
  • Core clock OC mode: 1635MHz
  • Gaming mode: 1605 MHz
  • Boost Clock OC mode: 1830 MHz
  • Game mode: 1800 MHz
  • Compatibility: two HDMI 2.0b, two DisplayPort 1.4
  • CUDA Cores: 2560
  • Bus interface: PCI Express 3.0

Smaller and thinner than most super cards…

The card itself measures 11.8 x 5.13 x 2.13 inches. Compared to other large 2070 Super cards, ROG STRIX is both thinner and smaller. This is something to keep in mind if you are considering purchasing a Mini-ITX case. Even though it is slimmer, it still occupies three places.

Due to the dual 8-pin PCIe connectors and the fact that Nvidia chips do not have integrated circuits, these three variants have at least theoretically the same overclocking capacity. The dual 8-pin replaces the usual 1 x 6-pin and 1 x 8-pin. Dual BIOS with a physical switch to prevent the risk of flashing the BIOS is another key feature of the ROG STRIX GeForce 2070 Super.

Our verdict?

Sometimes it’s better to pay more for high-end Asus hardware. The ROG STRIX 2070 Super is overclocked right out of the box. A cooler design that works quite well, however, is an option for beginners. The card is inexpensive and efficient. That being said, if you are looking for a card with a slim design and a powerful all-inclusive graphics card, the ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce 2070 Super is a good option.

2 GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2070 Super Gaming OC 8G – Best Budget RTX 2070 SUPER Graphics Card

Gigabyte is one of the best brands in creating exceptional GPUs, offering great performance. However, their prices are slightly higher compared to other brands. But all cards made by Gigabyte are among the best in the market, including the GeForce RTX 2070 Super Gaming OC 8G, and it’s a great budget option.

Technical data:

Best RTX 2070 SUPER Graphics Card Buying Guide

Now let’s take a closer look at the features you should consider when buying an RTX 2070 SUPER graphics card…

Overclocking

Each graphics card has a different clock speed. Usually it depends on what factory overclocking is offered by the manufacturers. We can all agree that overclocking will improve performance, even though all cards share a similar GPU. The difference in performance between the different versions of the RTX 2070 Super is relatively small considering their factory clocks.

By purchasing a high-OC card, you won’t have to manually overclock it, saving you time and sometimes headaches. However, most cards come with software, making it relatively easy to overclock. If you don’t know much about overclocking and don’t have much or no experience with graphics card overclocking, you should go for a card with a higher factory OC.

Width And Length

ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Advanced overclocked graphics 8G GDDR6 HDMI DisplayPort USB Type-C for gaming (ROG-STRIX-RTX-2070S-A8G-GAMING)

The physical dimensions of the graphics card are its length and width. These dimensions will let you know if the card will fit in the case and on the motherboard. The length of the GPU is measured in millimeters. It only lists the longest side of the card. It will also let you know if it is compatible with your system or not, especially if you are looking at a small ITX case.

Before purchasing a GPU, you need to check the specs of the case you have or want to buy and measure the space carefully. The width of the card is determined by the PCIe slots, with two slots being standard for many cards.

Some cards, as you saw in our review, have three slots. If you are building a mini-ITX enclosure with minimal airflow or no airflow, or the slots are full, you can choose a card with 3 slots on the motherboard.

Compatibility

Compatibility is one of the most important factors when purchasing a graphics card. The type of connectors your card has determines which monitors you can use. The display connectors are usually on the back of the card. The most common of them is DisplayPort, which is usually computer and monitor technology. Most of the super RTX 2070 cards have three DisplayPort ports.

The second most popular option is HDMI, which is known as TV technology. Typically GPUs have at least one HDMI port. The advantage of DisplayPort over HDMI is the support offered by DisplayPort. When it comes to PC oriented features like G-sync and Free Sync, some cards have a USB Type-C connector which is used for VR headsets and virtual link compatibility.

What Is Your Aim With The Card?

Very few applications or programs require the power and performance that modern graphics cards provide. If you only use your computer to work with applications and play a game every now and then, it might not be worth spending hundreds of dollars on a graphics card.

Games like Overwatch and League of Legends can run independently of integrated processor graphics. If you only play these types of games, a low or moderate card will greatly enhance your gaming experience. Most of the lower and middle tier cards are compatible with medium and high graphics settings.

What’s That Mean For You?

If you want to gain a competitive edge and want to invest a little more, you should definitely go for the RTX 2070 Super cards.

Finally, there is one more tip: the GeForce RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 will be replaced by the RTX 2070 Super and RTX 2080 Super respectively, but the non-Super GeForce RTX 2060 will remain for sale. (Who knows, maybe there will be “RTX 2050 Super?)

How To Pick The Right Card For Your Needs

Now that we’ve covered our pick of the best RTX 2070 Super models available today, what should you keep in mind when choosing a graphics card?

Super RTX 2070 graphics card size

When it comes to compatibility, one of the main factors to consider (especially when it comes to larger cards) is the physical size of the card. If you want to be sure that the card you receive will fit in your case, the two key dimensions you need to keep in mind are length and width.

Some graphics cards are longer than others, whether it’s due to a longer circuit board or a longer cooler that extends beyond the circuit board. In both cases, always make sure that the card is not obstructed by the HDD / SSD rack.

In terms of width, some cards take up more vertical space inside the case due to a more bulky radiator, usually due to a thicker heat sink. This can lead to two potential problems:

  1. They can block some PCIe slots on the motherboard, thus preventing the installation of additional PCIe expansion cards in those slots.
  2. They can be too close to the bottom of the case, and even if there is enough space to fit the card, being too close to the bottom or a bottom-mounted power supply can prevent air from entering the radiator, leading to higher temperatures and higher noise generation.

Now the RTX 2070 Super isn’t a compact card, and even the Zotac Mini version is a bit bulky. That said, it’s always a good idea to be on the safe side and check the dimensions of the card you receive as well as the dimensions of your case, i.e the case you plan on getting in the future.

Cooling

RTX 2070 Super graphics card cooling type

The graphics card is where most of the heat generated by a computer comes from and like any other component that generates a lot of heat, it requires active cooling. Modern GPUs often use one of the following three types of cooling:

Outdoor coolers are the most common, and all the graphics cards mentioned in this article use them. In most cases, outdoor coolers are the best solution for most gaming PCs as they provide good overall heat dissipation and can benefit more from case fans. These coolers can use one to three fans, but for high-end cards like the RTX 2070 Super, they usually come with two or three.

As for the blowers, they contrast with the outdoor coolers as they have an enclosed heat sink and a single blower fan that blows hot air on the back of the card, directly out of the case. This prevents heat build-up inside the housing, making the blower suitable for smaller housings with limited airflow. However, it also makes them louder and generally less efficient.

Finally, liquid cooling is by far the most efficient cooling method, making it ideal for overclocking. Liquid-cooled GPUs can achieve higher clock speeds while operating at noticeably lower temperatures than their air-cooled counterparts. However, they are not necessarily quieter as they still need a pump to circulate the liquid and fans to cool the radiator.

Conclusion – The Best RTX 2070 Super For 2022

Best RTX 2070 Super

So, at the end of the day, which of these graphics cards is the best?

Well, as is always the case, there is no one-size-fits-all solution as different people have different requirements and different budget constraints.

If you’re having trouble fitting the RTX 2070 Super to your version (in terms of price), we say go for the EVGA variant as it offers good performance at the manufacturer’s suggested price. On the other hand, if you think you may have trouble physically fitting the card to the case, the Zotac model is by far the most compact RTX 2070 Super you will find right now.

However, if you want to spend a little more, you can get better performance and a very elegant looking card with the MSI RTX 2070 Super. As mentioned before, it is currently the best model that has basically “everything” – performance, cooling, design and a good price.

But if you want to get all the performance you can squeeze out of the RTX 2070 Super then the Asus RoG Strix version should be your pick. As we mentioned, the RoG Strix cards are in urgent need of a redesign, and this particular model is quite expensive. However, if you think boosting your performance can improve your gaming experience, it might be worth the extra cash.

And that would be our pick for the best RTX 2070 Super models available today! We strive to keep our buying guides up to date, so if you find that some of the models listed here are outdated or if some newer models are missing, it means the guide will be updated soon in a future. In the meantime, if you notice any omissions or errors please let us know in the comments!

Finally, the back plate. Like RGB, backplates are slowly making their way to the lower price ranges, and in 2022 it is not uncommon to find them even in budget graphics cards like the GTX 1650 Super.

NVIDIA’s RTX 2070 SUPER will launch for $599, based on the unlocked, non-OC 2080 chip

The second entry in the SUPER card offer is the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, which includes the TU104-410 matrix (unlocked non-OC system from the old 2080). Once again, I was not able to verify the exact opinion on the number of cores, but personally / the opinion, I would trust Igor’s numbers. However, I do know that the RTX 2070 SUPER graphics card will have a MSRP of $ 599. The RTX 2080 is away at around $ 100, and it’s still a decent price cut in terms of $ 1 gaming power, although the exact increase in value will only be confirmed once performance data is available.

As before, I don’t see much of a difference in price for the old series, and considering this is the exact price of the RTX 2070 OC variant, there’s no reason for anyone to opt for the overclocked 2070 variant given that it will provide significantly higher performance in same price.

NVIDIA’s RTX 2060 SUPER based on the non-OC 2070 chip will launch for $429

Finally we have the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER based on the TU106-410 chip (non-OC chip from the old 2070, unlocked). I was not given the number of cores, see above, yadda yadda. The RTX 2060 SUPER will sell for a suggested retail price of $ 429. This is the only card I was a bit disappointed as it doesn’t match the suggested retail price of the original 2060 which costs $ 349. It looks like the original 2060 will remain a viable option for gamers even after the SUPER series is launched (or until NVIDIA decides to cut prices).

I can’t really comment on much more about the MSRP except to say that it is very close to the standard RTX 2070 MSRP and there would have to be a serious performance advantage to justify the price.

My application

We hope NVIDIA decides to introduce price cuts on the vanilla series, and this lineup will make a lot more sense. Please note that all these cards will be sent to the AIC without the mandatory kit (vRAM + power phase) that was there before. This enables AIBs to take advantage of better power phases and vRAM and lower their own costs while increasing performance. Given that all of these chips are unlocked, they’ll also be able to drive more TDP to these GPUs to get higher clock rates. It’s even possible that AIBs will be able to cut their own costs just enough to actually beat nVIDIA’s suggested retail prices – although I wouldn’t be holding my breath.

Here is a breakdown of the price tiers and the chips in question, all of which I was able to independently verify:
