How to Cross-Save in Destiny 2
Follow these steps to transfer your Destiny 2 save data from one platform to another:
Go to the Bungie Cross-Save website and select Get Started.
Select the platform you are currently playing Destiny 2 on.
Log in to your account on your platform (PS4, Xbox, Steam, etc.) in the window that appears. Enter your username, password, and any other requested information.
Select Link an Existing Profile and log in to your Bungie.net account, or select Create New Profile and create a new Bungie account.
Accept the cross-entry conditions and select Get Started.
Select Link account under the platform you want to transfer your saved data to, and then log in to your account for that platform in the new window that appears.
After two or more accounts are authenticated, select Continue.
Please select one platform as your main account. You cannot trade Guardians from different platforms; it’s a one way transfer.
Cross-saving is still very important in Destiny 2: Beyond Light; as long as you have cross save enabled, you can play with your saved progress on any platform. If you haven’t turned on the cross-save feature, simply go to Bungie’s official cross-save page and click Get Started to start the process.
How does cross save work in Destiny?
Cross-save in Destiny 2 works exactly as it sounds: you can connect all the platforms you’re playing on to your Bungie.net account, then choose one set of Guardians whose progress and loadout will be transferred to all systems: PlayStation 4/5. Xbox One / Series X | S, Steam and Stadia.
There are some important points to bear in mind: Characters and gear from different platforms cannot be combined, and purchased add-ons and silver cannot be transferred between systems. For a full description of the required terms and conditions, please visit the Bungie Cross-Save FAQ page.
Another important thing to keep in mind is that while you can disable cross-saving, if in doubt after activating this feature, you won’t be able to re-enable cross-progression for 3 months, so it’s not a choice to be taken lightly.
To use Destiny 2’s cross-save feature, you’ll need to sign up for a Bungie.net account and have all of your login credentials ready and available for each platform you plan to connect. Once you have all of this on hand, you can activate cross-saving in your account.
You can only take one Guardian set with you on all platforms, so choose wisely.
How to set up cross save in Destiny 2: PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Stadia
When you are ready to run and run cross-write, follow these steps to configure this feature:
- Log in to your Bungie.net account
- Select “Cross Save” from the account menu
- Link any new platforms that are not yet associated with your Bungie.net account (you will need login credentials for each of these platforms to do so)
- Authenticate all existing platforms that were previously connected (you also need to re-enter your login details for these systems)
- Select the platform / characters whose progress you want to take with you on all other systems and confirm your choice one last time
- Note: Character sets from different platforms cannot be combined, so make sure to select the Guardian trio you plan on using for all the content that will follow
After reviewing the cross-write settings and finalizing the configuration, you will receive a “Cross-write activated” message confirming that the process was successful. You can now log in to any connected platforms and see your chosen Ranger set ready and ready to go.
Once the cross-save is properly set up, the selected characters will be made available on all platforms.
Note that cross-entry does not link accounts. Only one Destiny 2 account can be linked across platforms. To recover Guardians and data from other platforms, you’ll need to go back to the Bungie Cross-Save website and disable cross-save.
Destiny 2 cross-save and cross-progression
Destiny 2 supports cross-saving and cross-progression on every platform it is currently available on (Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Steam, and Stadia). Your characters, gear, quest and bounty progress, Season Pass progress, and more are transferred between platforms, and setup is easy. All you need to do is link your main account on the Bungie website and then link your accounts on other platforms. Then you will automatically have all your progress regardless of the platform you are playing on.
However, there are a few limitations. First, you cannot merge two accounts. For example, if you have two different characters on Xbox and Steam, you can’t merge them into one account. Each account you link first is considered your “active” account and you will only have access to the Caregivers associated with that main account.
Extensions also don’t work across platforms. You must re-purchase extensions for each platform you want to play on in order to participate in quests or other activities related to that extension. Luckily, whatever hardware you’ve acquired with extensions continues to transfer between platforms, whether or not you own the extension on whatever platform you’re playing on. New items dropped from unowned expansions will drop at your base power cap.
Season Pass transfers between accounts, as well as any seasonal rewards. If you buy the Season Pass once, you’ll be able to access it everywhere. The only exception is Destiny 2: The Collection on Stadia. This version includes the Season Pass by default and cannot be transferred to other platforms.
As we saw in Dauntless and its cross-save feature, the in-game currency is a hindrance. Silver is only available on the platform you buy it from, and Bungie takes this limitation seriously. If you return silver on one platform to buy it on another, you won’t be able to cross-write until you re-buy silver on the main platform.
How to disable cross-save in Destiny 2
Cross-saving works seamlessly in Destiny 2, but if you encounter a save conflict or simply don’t want to exchange data between platforms, you can disable the feature. After logging in to Bungie.net, you can review and disable cross-saving by following the steps below:
- Select your profile icon
- Select Cross Writing
- Select View Configuration
- Select Deactivate cross-writing
On the cross-save setup page, you can also view your characters, silver balance on each platform, and extensions you have. With cross-save disabled, your original characters (if you have them) will be available on every platform.
There are some limitations here too. If you turn off cross-saving, you can’t turn it back on for 90 days. Likewise, you have to wait 90 days after purchasing silver to disable cross-saving, regardless of the platform you purchased the silver from.
Even if a Titan can do it, no one has anything to worry about (signed, major Titan). Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is currently scheduled for release October 1, 2019. After a slight delay.
How about cross-play?
Cross-play – meaning PC players can play against PlayStation 4 or Stadia players – and cross-save often goes hand in hand. But this feature will not appear in Destiny 2 with a cross save.
However, in an interview with Jason Schreier, Luke Smith and Mark Noseworthy of Bungie’s creative management team mentioned cross-play as something they finally want to see in Destiny 2.
Do you need to buy the expansions again?

Upgrade Licensing is the most complicated aspect of Destiny 2’s new cross-write feature.
If you plan on playing on multiple consoles, you may be wondering what exactly you need to buy for Destiny 2 to work. Need to buy everything for the second console?
To play the content of an extension, you need the extension on the platform you are playing on. For example, the Last Wish raid is part of the Forsaken expansion. If you already have it on a Windows PC but want to play it on a PlayStation 4, you’ll need Forsaken on PS4.
But if you want to run around the Dreaming City, explore the Shattered Throne dungeons, or complete exotic Forsaken missions, you’ll love the free version of the game. Destiny 2: New Light allows players to explore each world, play PvP, Gambit and Strike.
It’s also worth noting that if you have Forsaken in one location and switch to another, the game won’t limit your inventory. So, just because you can’t complete a mission with an Exotic Forsaken weapon on a platform where you don’t own a Forsaken, you can still use that Exotic weapon once you’ve acquired it.
If you ever get confused about what you have and where, it looks like the cross-save settings menu will keep track of all your licenses on your platforms.

Review: The ABS Challenger (ALI598) is an impressive, affordable gaming PC
Got around 400,000 to spend on a gaming PC? Newegg’s ABS Challenger does many things well without shortening a lot of corners, and its 1080p performance cannot be ignored.
Microsoft finally releases Android 11 for the original Surface Duo
After a very long wait, the original Surface Duo may now receive an operating system update to Android 11.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light cross-play
Destiny 2: Beyond Light will support crossplay at launch; however, it depends entirely on the platform you are using. Xbox players will only be able to play with other Xbox players, regardless of generation, so Xbox One can only be compatible with Xbox Series X | S users. Unfortunately, Xbox cannot group with PlayStation players.
It’s the same with the computer; PC players will only be able to play with others on this platform, but regardless of the client they are using to play.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light cross save
Cross-saving is still very important in Destiny 2: Beyond Light; as long as you have cross save enabled, you can play with your saved progress on any platform. If you haven’t turned on the cross-save feature, simply go to Bungie’s official cross-save page and click Get Started to start the process.
First you need to authenticate the platforms you are using, which are PSN, XBL, Steam, Stadia, Twitch, and Battle.Net. Then select the active characters you want to share across all of these platforms, and when / if everything is fine, click on review setup and you’re done!
You can now access your saved character progression regardless of the platform you are playing on. Unfortunately, the Cross Save feature does not transfer any DLC associated with that account / character. This means you will need to purchase the DLC for each platform you play on!
There are some important points to bear in mind: Characters and gear from different platforms cannot be combined, and purchased add-ons and silver cannot be transferred between systems. For a full description of the required terms and conditions, please visit the Bungie Cross-Save FAQ page.
Destiny 2 Transferring your account to Steam
Another new feature is coming soon for PC gamers. After breaking up with Activision, Bungie left Battle.net and chose to rely on Steam, so as of October 1, all of your progress will carry over from Battle.net to Steam. Players only need to link both accounts to confirm the transfer.
The procedure is simple, start by going to this page. First, you’ll be prompted to log in with your Battle.net account, and then your Steam account using this screen.
Also log in via Steam, give your final confirmation and you’re done. All purchased content and progress will transfer automatically, and all you need to do is start with Destiny 2, the Steam launcher, rather than the Battle.net launcher.
Play with your Clan
As for your clan, you will use the clan of your active profile when you cross-save and thus you can use it on any platform. Please note that all players, even if they belong to the same clan, must be on the same platform to play together as this is not a cross-platform feature.
