9 Ways to Adjust Screen Brightness on Your Windows 10 PC

Adjusting the brightness of the screen can improve eye health and comfort. Here’s how to change brightness in Windows 10.

It’s easy to adjust the display settings on your new computer. It’s important to know how to adjust brightness in Windows 10 because if you experience eye strain or headaches, the display’s brightness could be the cause. Luckily, you can adjust the levels manually or automatically based on parameters like battery life or ambient light.

Whether you want to reduce or increase the light, we’re going to show you how to adjust your screen brightness in Windows 10.

Change Brightness in Windows 10 in Settings

One of the easy ways to control the brightness of Windows 10 is to use Settings.

  1. Press Win + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to System> Display.
  3. Below Brightness and Color, use the Change brightness slider. It will be darker on the left side, and lighter on the right side.

If a slider is unavailable, it will be due to one of two things. If you are using an external monitor, use the buttons on it to change the brightness. Otherwise, you need to update your display driver.

In addition to optimizing the keyboard to your preferred operating system, the software allows you to customize the K380 to suit your individual needs and style.

I’m afraid so. Do you need to have additional software installed for specialty keys like Mission Control to work or work out of the box?

I used to think of buying MX Keys, if I do, I will try to get to the bottom of it.

Yes, I have Logitech Options installed, but was pretty sure the keys were working before I installed it. I just tried it on my Macbook but forgot it had options for the mouse already installed. If I have the opportunity, I will uninstall the software and test it again.

I looked at it a bit again, could you please test this new playground to see if it produces any output when the brightness keys are pressed?

On many Windows laptops, you may need to press a function key (F1-F12) to turn on the keyboard backlight. In this case, which function key you choose will likely depend on the make and model of your laptop.

Enhance your keyboard with Logitech Options

Unlock the hidden potential of your keyboard by adding Logitech Options software.

In addition to optimizing the K380 for the operating system, Logitech Options allows you to customize the keyboard to suit your needs and style – create shortcuts, reassign key functions, turn keys on (and off), display battery alerts and much more.

Logitech Options software is available for Windows (7, 8 or later) and Mac OS X (10.10 or later).

Shortcuts and function keys

Hotkeys and multimedia keys

The table below shows the shortcut and multimedia keys available for Windows, Mac OS X, Android, and iOS.

To perform a shortcut, hold down the fn (function) key while pressing the key associated with the action.

The table below lists the function key combinations for different operating systems.

If you usually use function keys more often than hotkeys, install the Logitech software and use it to configure hotkeys as function keys and use the keys to perform functions without holding down the fn key.

OS-adaptive keyboard

Logitech Keyboard K380 includes OS-adaptive keys that have different functions depending on the operating system of the device you’re typing on.

The keyboard automatically detects the operating system on the currently selected device and remaps the keys to make functions and shortcuts right where you want them.

If the keyboard does not correctly detect the operating system of the device, you can manually select the operating system by pressing and holding (3 seconds) the function key combination.

Unique multi-function keys make the Logitech Keyboard K380 compatible with most computers and mobile devices. Key label colors and split lines identify functions or symbols reserved for different devices and operating systems.

The color of the key label

Gray labels indicate functions available on Apple devices running Mac OS X or iOS. The white labels on the gray circles represent symbols reserved for use with Alt Gr on Windows computers.*

The modifier keys on either side of the space bar display two sets of labels separated by dividers. The label above the split line shows the modifier sent to a Windows, Android, or Chrome device. The label under the split line shows the modifier sent to an Apple Macintosh, iPhone® or iPad®. The keyboard automatically uses modifiers associated with the currently selected device.
