Usually, when something looks too good to be true, it is. And that’s exactly what happened to Fortnite, Epic Games’ hit with its free Battle Royale mode. Fortnite’s in-game currency, Vbucks, is the only way to purchase cosmetic items such as outfits, hang gliders, pickaxes, and emotes. But Vbucks is mostly real money. What you earn in the game doesn’t go that far.

Bring in unscrupulous people on the internet and lots of “free Vbucks, click here” scams or nefarious people who just hack and steal accounts.

Here’s an important thing to remember: There are no free Vbucks. Epic Games confirmed it. Unless you win a contest from, say, a high-profile streamer, or get rewarded directly by Epic Games, there are no freebies. It’s all a scam to get an Epic Games account login. In fact, anything that sounds too good to be true probably is, and anything that ever asks for your login credentials rather than logging into your Epic account is almost certainly bad,

The first thing you should do to protect yourself is not to click on any of these links. Never. But another thing you can and definitely should do is add two-factor authentication, or 2FA. Also, if you have any payment information stored in your Epic account, you can delete it and simply enter it each time. No matter what protection you apply, do not leave any crumbs of bread for the thieves.

Secure your Epic Games account, enable multi-factor authentication (MFA), and unlock the Boogiedown emote!

Fortnite 2fa is important because Fortnite’s two-factor authentication system adds an extra layer between you and the hackers. It’s like a lock on a door where you keep all your stuff in the game, and if you’ve been playing for a while – unlocking rewards and purchasing skins – you don’t want to make it easy for thieves to steal your account.

The whole bit of two-factor authentication in Fortnite 2fa means it adds two login steps. Instead of a single password that puts you directly into the game that can be guessed, hacked, or compromised, a password and code is used. When you log in for the first time, the game also sends you a code that you must enter. Without the code, the password is useless, protecting your account from all risk when you choose where to send the code by blocking random login.

This of course not only increases your account security and protects all your hard-earned gear, but also gives you an exclusive Boogie Down emote that you can only get by enabling Fortnite Two-Factor Authentication. And if you’re also playing Save the World, 2fa will give you 50 armory slots, 10 backpack slots, and one Legendary Troll Stash Llama.

Using Fortnite’s Two-Factor Authentication to protect your Fortnite account is really easy, so here’s how to enable Fortnite 2FA and protect all your stuff.

What is Fortnite 2FA?

What is Fortnite Two-Factor Authentication and How to Enable It.

Two-factor authentication – 2FA for short – is essentially a way to make your Fortnite account more secure. Because Fortnite is so popular, there are always people out there trying to hack into your account and access your favorite skins, so enabling 2FA is absolutely mandatory to keep unwanted intruders out.

This works so that any time someone tries to access your Fortnite account from a new machine, you have to prove that it is the real (i.e you) login by entering the code Epic sent to the account owner. This can be emailed to you or delivered through an authenticator app – the preference is yours. This means your account will be completely safe. Unless of course you give anyone your unique 2FA code.

My Fortnite Account has been Hacked into

In the unfortunate event that your Fortnite account has been compromised, stay calm and let’s move on to what you need to do!

First of all, make sure you scan your computer thoroughly immediately to make sure it is not the result of a Trojan or keylogger.

Once that’s done, if your antivirus managed to find the virus, after removing it and keeping it safe, move on to immediately changing your passwords to anything of paramount importance – email, bank accounts, social media, other games and platforms, and so on because you never know what else was sent to the attacker.

Then contact Fortnite Support to clarify your case, especially if your account was also banned as a result of this breach, and wait for a response from them. In the meantime, just browse through any other accounts, games, and emails you may have forgotten and make sure they haven’t been hacked. Good luck!
