Therefore, customers who are wondering if their phone can be used with Honey and Amazon can find out by searching their app store for both apps.

Honey Review: Is It a Scam or Legit?
Honey is a free browser extension that helps you automatically save money by searching for coupon codes while you are at the checkout in your favorite online stores.
I’ve actually used Honey myself as I usually use google coupon codes when I’m at checkout to buy an item. The Honey app is a great way to earn coupons quickly.
In this review, we’ll go over what the Honey app is, how it works, and if it’s right for you.
If you shop online a lot and want an easy way to save some money without having to search for coupon codes yourself, you should try Honey. It’s completely free, and even if you save a few bucks here and there, it’s still worth it.
- Free and easy to use
- Save money and time
- Supported in many browsers
What is the Honey App?
Honey is an application that allows you to save money by automatically finding and applying coupon codes in thousands of online stores.
With over 17 million users, Honey is a great option, especially since it’s completely free to join.
Honey works with the following:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
There are a lot of money saving apps out there. According to the LA Times, Honey users save an average of $ 32 per month.
The extension uses a kind of crowdsourcing technology (similar to Waze) to find out if the coupon codes are working or not.
When you go to the checkout part of your purchases (no matter what page you are on), you can click the Honey button. It will automatically apply the coupon codes (if found) to the cart.
It also works with Amazon, but in my experience the extension has never been able to find any coupons.
The company earns commissions from 21,000 online retailers it works with, and approximately 9,000 of them pay Honey commissions.
However, customers should also be aware that Honey rebates cannot be applied to every product on Amazon and therefore may not work for every product they are looking for.
Table of contents
Honey has been around for a long time. And among the many problems Honey users have experienced, the most famous is Honey not finding any coupons and non-working promo codes. Sometimes you may see a coupon in Honey, but at checkout, the code doesn’t apply or gives you a zero discount.
One of the reasons is that Honey doesn’t really serve the store you’re in. If you’re talking about major retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and Shein, it’s understandable – these sites are already big enough and don’t need coupons to promote their turnover. But the bad luck is that sometimes Honey won’t find coupons for some small shops either.
Coupon finders have their own sources, but some working codes are actually submitted by users. In other words, in some stores you may not get the code without input from others.
What to do when Honey isn’t working?
First, you need to check if Honey supports this store. To do this, you can search the target store on the Honey store page. If so, and you can’t find any coupons, it’s likely Honey doesn’t have any working coupons at the moment.
You may not need to remove Honey if you don’t receive the coupons. Instead, you can extend the coupon’s reach by getting its alternative: Coupert .
Being also a coupon finder, Coupert is a lagging player that shows great potential. While Coupert gives discounts at as many stores as Honey does, it also works quite well for niche products – our test shows that in some stores Coupert finds more promo codes and even gives you a bit more cash. So, you can keep both to see which one has the store coupons and which is giving you more cashback.
Every time you shop at one of over 7,000 stores, you earn gold at Coupert, which you can later exchange for cash.
Basically every coupon knows and has tried Honey. Coupon finders like Honey have helped us save a lot of time, but they are far from perfect – many buyers report problems with Honey like no coupons, coupons that don’t apply and don’t show up on Amazon, Shein, Walmart, etc.
Where Is Honey Available?
The Coupon Honey app is only available as a browser extension, so you can only use it in a compatible web browser. It supports the most popular browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, and Opera.
You can use Honey every time you shop, and it works on thousands of different sites. Some of the most popular sites where Honey is available are:
- Papa Johns
- The crew of J
- Always 21
- Chest and barrel
- The finish line
If you don’t see one of your favorite sites, it doesn’t hurt to install the extension and check it out.

How Does Honey Make Money?
Honey earns money every time a user redeems a coupon through their extension. Sellers pay Honey a so-called affiliate commission, which is a percentage of the total selling price.
The affiliate commission paid depends on the contract Honey has entered into with his trading partner. According to the company, most of the commission ranges from 0.5 to 10 percent. In categories with higher margins, such as luxury fashion, the commission can be as high as nearly 20.
Honey does not work directly with the seller (eg Nike), but with the so-called affiliate networks. Affiliate networks are platforms that act as agents on behalf of other companies. They help promote their products and take care of managing the partner (in this case, Honey).
Honey works with over 20 affiliates, including eBay, Rakuten, Groupon, Commission Junction, ShareASale, and many more.
The company has developed a set of free tools as well as a cashback program to help increase the platform’s growth and retain customers.
For example, the Droplist Honey feature compares different prices on the Amazon platform and notifies the user if it finds a better deal. Conversely, the company shares a portion of the commission it earns with its users through the Honey Gold cashback program. This motivates users to use the platform more often.
In this regard, PayPal also slowly began to integrate Honey into the existing product ecosystem. In October 2021, PayPal announced that Honey users can now redeem their cashback rewards through their own platform.
Other affiliate commission companies have used a similar approach in the past. Credit Karma, which provides free credit check and other complementary tools, earns all its money from affiliate commissions by promoting credit card companies and other financial institutions.
Honey Funding, Valuation & Revenue
According to Crunchbase, Honey raised a total of $ 31.8 million in four rounds of venture capital financing. Famous investors in the company include Plug and Play, Wonder Ventures, Anthos Capital, Cendana Capital and many more.
The company’s last public valuation was made when it was acquired by PayPal. The FinTech giant paid as much as $ 4 billion (mostly in cash) to buy Honey.
In fiscal 2018, Honey (according to PayPal CEO Dan Schulman) generated approximately $ 100 million in revenue while growing 100 percent. Meanwhile, Honey is already operating profitably.

How to use the Honey extension
Using the Honey extension is extremely easy, and you don’t even have to do anything other than what you are doing right now. That said, you have the option to preview the listings in the Honey app before purchasing, if you prefer. Here are a few steps to follow once you start using Honey.
Step 1: Explore JoinHoney.com
First, you have the option to browse the Honey website to find the best deals and deals of the day. All you need to do is visit joinhoney.com/explore to find out about the latest trending coupon codes and the best shopping deals. From there, you can search for stores that you shop frequently at and maybe find out about discounts or free shipping deals that you didn’t know about.
Step 2: Shop like you normally would
If you don’t want to check Honey’s website before shopping, you can rely on the browser extension to find the best deals on your behalf.
In the screenshot below, we entered the JCPenney website and added the necklace to our cart. When we entered the checkout page, a popup appeared stating that Honey was offering 10 different coupons for this seller.
From there, we clicked “apply coupons” and let Honey do the work. Then the best coupon code of the day has been automatically added to our cart without any work or search.
Step 3: Enjoy the savings
The best part about Honey is that you download the extension once and you can enjoy the savings from there. As Honey finds discount codes and automatically adds them to your cart when you shop, using the app to save money is not a hassle.
Honey security: Is the extension safe to use?
When it comes to security, Honey promises never to sell your information. They also protect your personal data and sensitive data with encryption, advanced malware detection, and pseudonymization and anonymization techniques.
However, Honey does not guarantee that it can protect your data in the long term. In fact, the privacy and security disclosure says this:
“While we hate to say it, despite our best efforts, we cannot guarantee that your information will not be accessed, viewed, disclosed, altered or destroyed as a result of a breach of any of our security features. You provide us with information at your own risk.”
According to previous customers, Honey works very well on Amazon and could be used to locate a large number of discounted prices. In addition to the usual browser extension, Honey offers Amazon Best Price, which is a tool that finds the cheapest seller of a specific product that a customer wants to buy.

From my own experience with Honey, I admit that I uninstalled it from Chrome after three months. The main reason I uninstalled it was because I didn’t find the coupons on Amazon. Plus, I don’t feel like I am shopping enough online to justify using it.
What is the Honey app?
Honey is a free mobile app and browser extension that helps you find savings on products from over 30,000 online retailers. It was first introduced as an extension to the Chrome web browser in 2012 and quickly achieved over 125,000 installations in early 2013.
Today, Honey has over 17 million members worldwide and has saved its users over 400 billion. Honey recently joined the PayPal family, dispelling any concerns that the company is illegal. In case you didn’t know, PayPal is a global digital payment platform with over 325 million active users and over 23,000 employees.
If you’re wondering how to save money on your daily online shopping, try the Honey app or browser extension. Honey is available on both the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store.
How does the Honey app work?
After you’ve downloaded the Honey mobile app or your web browser extension, it’s time to start using it to save money when shopping online. The Honey design has made installation and start-up simple and straightforward.
Here are some of Honey’s best features and how they work:
Honey’s most attractive feature is finding coupons to use in your favorite online stores. Since there are no costs associated with using Honey, you have the opportunity to save money every time you shop online at any store that Honey operates in. With tens of thousands of stores to choose from, you can count on Honey to work with most popular online stores, including Sephora, Nike, Target, GameStop, Macy’s and Pizza Hut.
With the Honey browser extension, you simply go to the online store as usual and the Honey icon in your browser indicates if there are coupons or promotional codes for that store. After going to checkout, a Honey window will appear in your browser and you can click “Apply Coupons” to see if you will receive any discounts. Honey will automatically apply the best coupon code available and also let you know if you already have the best price for the items in your cart.
Honey can be of great help if you are an Amazon buyer as it compares multiple sellers and even includes shipping costs. Honey also offers the ability to view price history so you can see if now is a good time to buy that particular item.
With the Honey mobile app, the experience is a bit different, but the end result is the same. There are no automatic pop-ups in the app informing you about the number of coupons available. Instead, you search for the store you want to shop at and you will immediately see a list of available coupon codes. Then simply copy the discount codes you want to use and apply them at checkout.
The coupons available in both the mobile app and the browser extension are the same.
In addition to giving you easy access to the best coupons to help you save money, Honey also has its own free rewards program called Honey Gold. Honey Gold allows you to earn rewards every time you make a purchase from one of over 4,000 participating online stores.
To find out if a store is participating in the Honey Gold rewards program, look for the Honey Gold logo next to the store name in the mobile app or browser extension. Some examples of participating sellers include Best Buy, Apple, Walmart, and Home Depot.
To claim your Honey Gold, click the “Activate” button or simply click “Apply Coupons” at checkout and the available Honey Gold offers will be applied to your order. Honey Gold can be exchanged for $ 10 gift cards at a rate of 1,000 gold for $ 10. You can get gift cards from popular stores such as Amazon, eBay, Target, Walmart, and more.
If you’re an especially astute customer, there’s another great feature for you called Honey Droplist. Thanks to Droplist, you can have Honey monitor the price of an item for 30, 60, 90 or 120 days. You can monitor as many items as you want and receive email notifications when an item’s price drops to your originally set target.
Droplist only monitors the list price, so it doesn’t take into account shipping, tax or any other additional costs. This feature is also only available on specific websites, so keep an eye out for the “h +” icon in the Honey browser extension to see where it works. You can browse your items from the drop-down list whenever you want using the browser extension.
