What is a Twitch Affiliate?

Like the adventures found in quest games, Twitch’s Affiliate Program provides streamers with the ability to collect currency while playing.

But these are not digital coins and treasures.

A Twitch Companion is a skilled streamer who can earn money by streaming live video games, creative content, and music broadcasts on an online streaming platform.

Twitch Affiliates can earn coins, but otherwise awarding a Twitch Affiliate is the first step towards becoming a Twitch Affiliate – a coveted title that provides streaming wealth.

In this short guide, we’ll cover how Twitch users can access Affiliate Management and Affiliate Status, as well as what marketers need to know when considering starting affiliate marketing .

The Twitch Affiliate Tutorial

During the streamer’s journey to become a Twitch Affiliate, they must complete four critical tasks:

• Reach 50 followers
• Stream for a total of eight hours
• Stream for seven different days
• Earn an average of three viewers

Does that sound too easy? Note that streamers must also complete any endeavor within 30 days. 1

By using the “Association Pathway” on the Twitch Creators Dashboard, streamers can track their progress and set goals. Streamers will then see a check mark next to each completed task.

Press Start: The Twitch Affiliate Invitation

Once completed, Twitch streamers will be able to sign up for the Twitch Affiliate Program and start monetizing their channel through live streaming and subscriber benefits.

First, players will receive an email notifying them of their eligibility.

The invitation, like Willy Wonka’s coveted golden ticket, acts as a passport to the elite community of creators. Of the 9.5 million Twitch broadcasters a month, only 1.2 million are affiliates. 2

When invited, a notification on the channel’s desktop informs streamers that they can sign up for the program by stating:

• General information
• Consent to the Twitch Affiliate Agreement
• Tax information
• Payment information

Once the information has been processed, Twitch Affiliates can start earning Channel Points that allow partners to reward subscribers with fun perks, such as highlighting their messages in Live Chat or using an emoticon.

Side Quest: What is an Emote?

Emoticons are personalized emoticons created by streamers to reward their loyal subscribers. They are unique to the streaming platform and are used by subscribers to communicate with streamers in the live stream chat window.

Some streamers also use emoticons as plugins to beautify their live streams and channels. Twitch Affiliates can upload original images to their channel for use by subscribers to build their audience and promote their Twitch-verse content.

Most of the time, streamers group emotes by each subscriber level – the highest tier having access to the best emotes – whether it’s a streamer face rendering or a heart bunny rabbit rendering.

Ways to Earn on Twitch

As you know, a Twitch Companion can use their channel to collect revenue. As a Twitch Affiliate, you have four ways to monetize your channels and earn money:

• Subscriptions – Anyone can watch the live stream, but the streamer must accept their subscribers. Partners can download different levels of subscription options at different prices: $ 4.99, $ 9.99, $ 24.99, and a free Prime subscription. Subscribers often receive bonuses or exclusive emotes, depending on their status and subscription level.
• Subscriber Donations – Subscriber donations, known as bits, are used by viewers to “cheer” on the streamer during a live broadcast. For each bit given, the streamer earns one cent. During chat, bits appear as gem-shaped emotes.
• Game Sales – Twitch sells numerous games and in-game items. When a Twitch Affiliate is playing and streaming one of these games, the affiliate can earn a 5% revenue share if a Twitch user purchases the game from the Twitch Affiliate channel.
• Ad revenue – Affiliates earn a certain percentage of ad revenue streamed on their channels. Streamers can also adjust the length and frequency of the ads.

Twitch Affiliate Requirements

To become a Twitch partner, you must meet the following requirements:

• Get 50 followers.
• Maintain an average of 3 concurrent viewers.
• Stream at least 500 minutes in the last 30 days.
• Broadcast for at least 7 days in the last 30 days.

If you do this carefully, you can potentially reach a Twitch Companion in just a week.

How to Get 3 Average Viewers on Twitch

We spoke to a handful of Twitch streamers who reached the Companion in two weeks or less, and compiled a list of their hot tips. The most common struggle with achieving status quickly is keeping an average of 3 simultaneous viewers. Connect with other streamers to jump over this obstacle easily and efficiently.

Whether you choose to reach the status within a week or a month, here are some key strategies to help you achieve your goal:

1. Set Up Your Channel for Growth

Take the time to plan the direction of your channel. This will give you a chance to build a solid foundation for content creation. If everything is set up correctly, you won’t have to worry about troubleshooting or collecting new information / products along the way. What things should you do?

Stream Branding

Play according to your personality and strengths while building your stream brand. Know where you want to go with your content, what risks are you willing to take, and what you need to do to get started. Use this information to choose a name for your stream, design a logo and other graphics, and set up your social media accounts.

Graphics for Your Channel

Once you have an idea for your brand, design (or pay someone to design) your logo, profile banner and panels, Twitch overlays, offline screen, alerts, subscriber badges and the first 2-3 emotes from your channel. You won’t be able to use your emotes until you’ve become a partner and approved (typically around 48 hours).

Displaying future stream emotes on your profile will show viewers that you are serious about your channel. Sharing them will also help your content in the first week (see step 3) and give you another topic to discuss.

Stream Equipment and Software

Strive to create high-quality content right from the start. Have a good understanding of how streaming hardware and software works. Make sure your camera and microphone are good enough to attract your audience.

Practice switching between scenes, make sure the image quality is good, the overlays are positioned correctly, and the audio is in sync with the video. Play with the lighting and background until it becomes aesthetic. Have some friends give you feedback to maximize your results.

Fill Out Your Twitch Profile

Write your full profile. Let others know who you are, what you plan to play or do on your stream, and why you’re broadcasting. Add links to social media and leave room for the upcoming schedule and future subscription rewards.

See your Twitch biography as a catch to attract new viewers. Make it intriguing and give people a reason to come back to your channel.

Know Your Target Audience

Take the time to find your niche. While it is likely to transform or change in the first few months (and be influenced by your viewers), finding unique things to bring to your stream will set you apart from the competition. In addition to that, also find a niche in your content. If you are a gamer, don’t play the oversaturated game. Find a game that has many viewers but fewer streamers to discover you more easily.

2. Plan Content in Advance for Each of Your Streams

Find out what you want to stream, what games you want to play and what you will talk about in advance.

How to Get Twitch Affiliate Sooner?

There is no shortcut to Twitch Companion. To be accepted into the program, you must meet various milestones. But there are things you can do to get each step even faster. I will cover these steps below.

500 Minutes Broadcast

This one is easy. You can easily broadcast 500 minutes in one weekend. Let’s say you stream 3 hours on Friday night after work, 3 hours on Saturday morning, then 3 hours on Sunday afternoon, and then boom, you’ve already used up the required minutes.

Or if you feel up to it, you can hit all 500 minutes in one day. It would be a great grind, but it is possible.

In short, this is not a difficult milestone to achieve and all you need to do is create a schedule and enable the Go Live button.

7 Days Broadcasted

This one is easy. Broadcast in 7 seven exceptional days within 30 days and you are good to go. Special days just mean different days. So you can’t do 3 streams in one day and count that towards your total. It would only count for a day. And there is no requirement how long these broadcasts have to run, just the fact that “Go Live” is good enough.

Average 3 Concurrent Viewers

At the same time, viewers are people watching your broadcast live or at the same time, not the total number of viewers who visit your broadcast. For example, if you currently have 3 viewers watching your stream, you have 3 concurrent viewers.

If you’ve ever looked at a summary of your stream after it’s finished, you may have noticed that you’ll have more unique viewers than your average viewer. This is because unique viewers are everyone special who visits your stream. So you can have 10 unique viewers, but only average 3 viewers since they didn’t stay. In any case, I am telling you all these things so that you understand that you will have to get 3 people to constantly visit and stay in your stream. It may seem like a lot, but it honestly isn’t. If you try to do it organically then yes, it may take several months to hit it.

But you can always just take the easy route and ask your mom, brother and girlfriend to create Twitch accounts and watch your stream. And then, after a few streams, Boom! Now you have an average of 3 viewers. In my opinion, this is probably the most difficult milestone on your way to becoming a Twitch partner.

At Least 50 Twitch Followers

an average of 3 viewers is arguably the most difficult milestone to achieve, but getting 50 followers on Twitch is arguably the second most difficult milestone to achieve. However, if you have the right strategy in place, it really isn’t that hard to achieve.

For many, you’ll be more fortunate enough to gain followers on Twitch on non-Twitch platforms such as Twitter and Youtube. Twitch simply doesn’t have a great detectability feature compared to other platforms. For more information on how to get more followers on Twitch, check out my article here.

Once you reach each of these milestones, you’ll be invited to be a Twitch Companion. But be patient as the invitation and approval process may take several weeks.

What are the Benefits of Being a Twitch Affiliate?

Becoming a Twitch Companion is a big step as a streamer. Twitch Affiliates can now subscribe to people on their channel, collect bits, have custom emotes for the channel, and use channel points among other things.

Being a Twitch Companion is an important step in building a community among your followers. There are a few streamers out there that are doing some really cool things with channel points, for example. Emotes are a great thing too. Having custom emoticons really makes your stream unique and even better, people can drop your emoticons in other streamers’ chats as a greeting to you.

Getting people to subscribe is a lot harder than getting them to follow, so you need to have an amazing stream to convince them to come back.

You can also earn money from donations and cheers as a Twitch Affiliate. This way viewers can give you something here and there without subscribing to your platform. Other methods of monetizing a stream include affiliate marketing and even sponsored streams. It takes time and effort to build any of these things – but the rewards can be amazing. How Much Money Do Twitch Affiliates Make?

I know it’s a dream to get paid to play video games, but the reality is that most Twitch members don’t earn enough to quit their day job. An unofficial Twitter poll from 2017 found that around 50% of affiliates earn less than $ 50 a month!

This is usually because they don’t have enough time to devote themselves to the stream. If you want streaming on Twitch to be profitable, you need to spend a tremendous amount of time doing it, and that’s something many of us just can’t do.

But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible, and doesn’t mean you can’t turn it into a profitable collateral move. Some affiliates earn over $ 700 a month which is amazing side money. Others only earn a few hundred dollars every few months, but that’s not a bad thing when it comes to paying to play video games in your spare time.

Real money is becoming an Affiliate where you get a share of ad revenue.

The Next Step: Become A Twitch Partner

Once you reach your partner on Twitch, you can start working on the next step: Become a Twitch Partner. Qualifying for the Twitch Affiliate Program is much more difficult than becoming a Twitch Affiliate. You need to broadcast for over 25 hours on 12 different days, which is doable if you want to put in that much effort, but you also need to average 75 viewers! That’s a lot! Do you remember how difficult it was to get five?

Even if you meet the requirements to become a Twitch Affiliate, you still might not get in. Twitch manually browses through all partner applications and has no information on what exactly they are looking for. The requirements listed are the bare minimum and it looks like you want to go beyond that before applying.

How Much Money Do Twitch Partners Make?

It is extremely difficult to pinpoint exactly how much money Twitch affiliates are earning as there are so many different ways to earn and most affiliates are not transparent about their income. But we can make an estimate based on what we know about how Twitch pays.

Top earning Twitch partners can earn $ 20,000 per month from subscriptions alone! But that means you need to have around forty thousand submarines, which while possible, is quite difficult. But don’t forget that Affiliates also get a share of the ad revenue, and even smaller streams can benefit from it. Average ad payout is approximately $ 250 for every 100 subscribers.

Remember, these people treat streaming like a business. While it is possible to earn this kind of cash, it is unlikely that everyone will attract these huge crowds.

What are the Requirements for Twitch Affiliate?

According to the Twitch Affiliates website, streamers can become Affiliates after reaching the Affiliate Goal Track which consists of:

• Stream over 500 minutes in the last 30 days
• Stream at least 7 different days in the last 30 days
• More than 3 simultaneous viewers in the last 30 days
• Over 50 channel followers

According to Twitch Help, all requirements must be met within the last 30 days. Once your channel meets all the required conditions, you’ll receive an invitation and notification email on your Twitch channel profile

Note that the requirement only applies to normal streaming conditions. If you are hacked, which usually results in an increase in followers and viewers, this will not qualify you as a Twitch Affiliate, even if you have already exceeded the Twitch Affiliate requirements

How to Quickly become Twitch Affiliate

Becoming a Twitch Companion can be done quickly if you manage to complete all the requirements in a short time. The most difficult requirement for a Twitch Affiliate is to have three simultaneous viewers in their stream. As long as you can meet the viewer requirements, you can quickly become a Twitch Affiliate. Theoretically, the fastest time to become a Twitch Affiliate is 7 days.

The sooner you meet the Affiliate requirement, the sooner you will become a Twitch Affiliate on your channel. So you need to devise a strategy to meet the Twitch Affiliate requirement. Fortunately, 2 of the 4 requirements are easy to meet

It’s easy to stream over 500 minutes and 7 different days. You only need to stream at least one hour a day

To make your streaming journey of more than 500 minutes easier, create a broadcast schedule. Choose the time when you start streaming to make it a habit and easier to stream for extended periods of time

If you can only broadcast on weekends, you can still meet the criteria for seven different days in less than a month if you broadcast Saturday and Sunday for four weeks.

But what you care most about is getting 50 followers and 3 simultaneous viewers in your stream

How to Get 3 concurrent viewers on your stream

If you don’t have 3 concurrent viewers, no one knows your Twitch channel. Ideally, you should get your stream recognized to get the first 3 simultaneous viewers. To be recognized, create an attractive title for your stream. In order for the viewer to stay on your channel, make sure the broadcast quality is good

Getting 3 average viewers on your stream isn’t easy for anyone just getting started with streaming

This is your first stream. Twitch will not recommend your channel because your stream has no viewers or followers. So first you get noticed on Twitch

So what is the way to get recognized on Twitch?

The first step to getting recognition is having an attractive stream title. Don’t just pick a standard title like:

“Playing LoL with a friend of mine.” It’s too mainstream

Make it special like “Playing LoL with a random hero” or “Streak of 5 LoL wins by aiming for a 7 in one day.”

Now that’s a stream title that will attract an audience.

You can even show off your rank so that they know by title that you have good skills in the game you’re streaming from

Why does Streaming Quality matter to Get Viewers on Twitch?

The quality of the broadcast can be easily recognized when a viewer visits your broadcast for the first time. So if you have a perfect attractive personality, use a decent streaming setup, and create a unique stream, the viewer will come back to you and become your first simultaneous viewers

How to keep your viewer on your stream

Not only that, you need to create a stream that will make your viewers watch your stream. Don’t let them get bored and close the Twitch tab in their web browser

Chat with viewers in your stream. But don’t rush too much as they may get scared if you tell them:

It is better to set the reward duration to at least seven days so that many Twitch users know that you have a gift on your channel. Don’t forget to tell the viewer that you need to follow your Twitch channel before qualifying for the contest

How To Earn Revenue As A Twitch Affiliate

When it comes to generating revenue, Affiliates earn money through Subscriptions, Bits and Donations. Twitch shares 50/50 subscription revenue with Affiliates, so you’ll pay $ 3,500.50 of your $ 4.99 subscription per channel.

Other Tips for Aspiring Twitch Affiliates

Now that you are familiar with the various Twitch programs and know what you need to do to achieve Affiliate status, you are probably wondering where to start your journey. You may need to stream more often or attract a few more subscribers this month.

Of course, another part of being a successful streamer is knowing and following all applicable rules and regulations. In part, this means familiarizing yourself with Twitch’s music principles and other copyright laws. It’s not the most exciting topic, but it’s a good idea to protect yourself and your content from DMCA (copyright claims) issues).

It’s a legal topic that can be a bit confusing, but music copyright has been very important to Twitch and other content creation sites over the past 12 months. (To find out what kind of music you can and cannot legally play, please refer to this article.)

Also make sure you pay attention to the sound quality. Most streamers know the importance of picking the perfect game for their audience, which could mean finding something trendy or something specific in a niche you love the most.

The listeners, however, care very much about the sound quality. You don’t need a 350,000-capacity studio microphone, but investing in something other than Airpods will allow you to keep new viewers on your channel.

After all, this is the only way to turn newcomers into subscribers. And that’s a key tactic in achieving Affiliate status – and one day becoming a successful Twitch Partner.
