Conserve as much ammo as possible

Earlier games in the Resident Evil franchise are known to be out of ammo you’ll be storing in a variety of environments, and this is still in the remake. Instead, focus on shooting the heads of the undead. Two or three blows are enough to wobble them for a few seconds, which will allow you to quickly avoid them. Until you roam this area in the near future, these zombies caught in a daze will no longer be a threat.

Anxiety-inducing horror

I don’t generally do horror movies unless it’s a video game – especially Resident Evil. Something about controlling the situation and being unhurried allows me to enjoy the genre better, and the horror in the Resident Evil franchise is one of my favorites.

I invested too much in the game

Unfortunately, this immortal monster known as the Tyrant broke into my brain and caused an unhealthy amount of anxiety that completely engulfed me.

It didn’t quiet down when I quit the game.

Once he finds Leon’s trail, the Tyrant follows him relentlessly, being able to enter almost all rooms in the police station. Unfortunately, I was in an impasse, because I did not know where to go next, and I knew that somewhere I had missed something.

I invested too much in the game and had a hard time separating from Leon (which is a huge compliment to the game’s addictive features).

I probably spent half an hour looking at my map wondering where to go and which route to take. I knew I just had to run, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I was too scared.

It was approaching the end of the workday, so I turned off the game, went home and ignored it for the evening. I managed to get it out of my head. But then I went to bed.

I closed my eyes and all I could imagine was a map of the police and the creepy rooms that I had to run through. My half asleep brain couldn’t shake off the feeling of being followed. I lunged and turned around, trying to get those images and feelings out of my head, but couldn’t.

At work, I was restless and couldn’t bring myself to start playing. At the same time, I was sick, which could worsen the anxiety and stress surrounding Resident Evil 2. One of those diseases where the whole body hurts and absolutely everything is unhappy.

For a moment, I didn’t think I could finish the game at all based on my anxiety. I am no stranger to debilitating fears and thought it was best for my sanity to just walk away. But after a while, I felt decent enough to push through.

It took almost 48 years from playing Resident Evil 2 before jumping back in and trying to break through. It took about five minutes to get through the rest of the disturbing Tyrant part, which probably took 20 minutes. For a game that took almost nine hours to complete, it was really a drop in the ocean.

After I left the police station (and the Tyrant), I felt a great relief. I was excited and had no problem pressing. And that’s good, because Resident Evil 2 is a fantastic game.
