Original article: Months after rumors of the League of Legends mobile game emerged, Riot Games announced this official event in celebration of its 10th anniversary. However, League of Legends: Wild Rift is a brand new game, not just a mobile port of the world’s most popular game.

So what is this new mobile MOBA? Read on to find out everything you need to know about League of Legends: Wild Rift!

What is League of Legends: Wild Rift?

League of Legends: Wild Rift is the new mobile version of the most popular game in the world, League of Legends. Riot Games has completely rebuilt Summoners Rift (now Wild Rift) for mobile devices and has redesigned many of the game’s most popular heroes and skins.

The gameplay is still a 5v5 MOBA action but with a unique mobile spin. The map is a bit smaller, you throw skills with two sticks and match times are 15 minutes mobile friendly. This is also Riot Games’ first trip to mobile space. But given the company’s ties to Tencent Gaming’s mobile gaming powerhouse, expect the polishing level to be higher than that of its competitors on mobile platforms.

Vanguard tanks lead the charge, using offensive abilities and dealing area damage. Warden tanks are all about defending and protecting the rest of your team from the attention of the opposing team.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is a long-running online multiplayer (MOBA) battle arena, but now available on mobile. Keeps the basic gameplay – you play a 5v5 match in a multi-lane arena and the first team to cross the team and destroy the ‘nexus’ wins. Players can choose from a variety of champions with different playstyles to challenge the other team. They all start at level 1 with one skill, but can gain more skills and purchase items as they progress each round.

Along the way, they level up and get a chance to unlock more heroes and rewards like cosmetics. Killing minions on three lines allows you to earn gold, which can then be used to purchase items in the base.

League of Legends is a game that requires skill and practice to master as players need to learn how to play each of the heroes, find one that suits their preferred style, and work with other players to develop strategies. The map even has other objectives that you can complete to get the upper hand in battle.

While Wild Rift essentially brings the PC experience to mobile devices, it’s not just a simple port. Riot Games has rebuilt the game from scratch into mobile platforms on a completely separate engine. This means that some changes had to be made.

Like League of Legends on PC, the mobile version of the game has been optimized to be beginner-friendly while providing deep and rewarding progression for veterans. In our review, writer Alex Huebner said about the title still in beta:

This mobile version of the popular PC game moved surprisingly well. The controls are easy to learn and the tutorials really make it easy for beginners to join. However, if you are just starting out, you may have to research the characters you get along the way as you won don’t get this kind of instruction from everyone. If you’ve played League of Legends on PC, you should also know that your progress and items won’t carry over. While customizable chat options can be of great help with previous social issues that League of Legends is known for, I’ll wait with optimism until League of Legends: Wild Rift is around for a while.

As long as this friendly environment persists once the game comes out of beta, Wild Rift should be one of the best free Android games out there.

League of Legends: Wild Rift will be available for mobile devices and consoles, but Riot Games will not offer play between the two. Cross-platform play from League of Legends on PC is also out of the question as they are completely separate games. Even heroes or other unlocks will not be transferred from the LoL computer to the Wild Rift account.

Where is the game available?

First, it should be noted that League Of Legends: Wild Rift is currently in the Regional Open Beta. The game hasn’t been fully launched yet, but is fully playable for anyone in regions where beta is running.

Which today includes the Americas (North America and Latin America). In addition to the Americas, the Regional Open Beta is available in several other countries. Including Brazil, Europe, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Middle East, North Africa, Oceania, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam.

Riot plans to open a regional beta of the game in more locations. But he has yet to set the dates or mention where those locations would be.

Not necessarily. While you can pre-register to access the game prior to its official release (which may provide Early Beta Access), this will only be necessary in regions where Open Beta is not available.

Anywhere in the open beta, you can just install the game on your mobile device and start playing. Of course, after logging in or signing up for a Riot account.

Finally, some of the heroes’ behavior has been changed. Some point-and-click spells have also been converted to measured skills.

While Riot Games’ iconic MOBA game League of Legends has become a hit with PC and Mac users around the world, it has never been released on consoles.

Wild Rift marked a step in the right direction, bringing the game to mobile devices and opening up opportunities for future console ports.

So will League of Legends Wild Rift be coming to consoles in the future? Or maybe we will see a completely new game? Here’s everything we know about the future versions of the title for PlayStation, Xbox and Switch.

League of Legends Wild Rift: Release dates & platforms

As we mentioned earlier, “soon” is as close to the official release date as it is approaching, but Riot has confirmed that Wild Rift is likely to be coming to some of the biggest consoles.

During the Riot Games roundtable in 2021, the developers noted that “you can imagine what people we’re talking to,” meaning Microsoft and Sony are on the list for Xbox and PlayStation.

One console that is literally made for Wild Rift is the Nintendo Switch. The mobile console itself, we’ll probably see the game there as well.

Support characters are – shocking horror – all about support. They are incredibly vulnerable themselves, but when you combine them with other classes, they are super powerful. If you’re playing as a support character and you’re on your own, it’s good to be in trouble.

Now we take a look at the different lanes and their roles. These are some of the most important things to deal with in League of Legends: Wild Rift, and they can be quite complicated at first. But when they start clicking, you’ll be even better.

Baron Lane

Baron Lane is so named because it is close to the area where Baron Nashor and the Herald spawn. It’s a 1v1 line, and it’s probably the best place to be when you first learn to play the game. Usually it is inhabited by Fighters, Tanks or Assassins.

If you want to do well here, you’ll need to gain some knowledge of the map, beware of gankers arriving from the jungle to make sure you don’t get overwhelmed. It’s also a good space to learn to trade (deal damage to other heroes) and get the last hit of minions.

The sooner you win the lane, the better your squad’s position will be when it comes to pushing (overloading fights on other lanes) and joining team fights. Winning lane will also make you a powerhouse in the mid-game.

middle lane

mid alley runs through the center of the map and is another 1v1 line. Usually you will find Assassins and Mages fighting for this central area. This is a key point for Jungle ganking, so it’s a tough spot if you’re just starting out in Wild Rift.

Blitzcrank battling Garen in the middle lane in League of Legends: Wild Rift

Since the middle lane is the shortest of the three lanes, it is usually the fastest to solve. This means winning mid lane will give you the ultimate much faster than any other lane.

Mid lane players need to be flexible, ready to assist players in other lanes when they win their lane, and support the Jungler in some of his quests. They should also always try to kill when they have their ultimate.

Dragon Lane

Dragon’s Alley is the avenue closest to where dragons spawn. Unlike the other two lines, this is a 2v2 line. The most popular team here is Support and Marksman. No wonder it is also the most complex of all three belts that can be dealt with.

Marksmen need to farm items and gold to raise their stats by hitting creatures and staying away from the center of combat. The support character must protect the sharpshooter, as well as control the line and keep the opposing team at bay.

Dragon Lane players must raise dragons, protect the Jungler when in trouble, and much more. Dragon Lane can become a real battle of exhaustion, so try not to stretch too much or you might get beaten.

The jungle is the space between the lanes and this is a really tough role for new players to fill. The main goals here are to farm jungle monsters to get tougher and drop buffs for other players as well as gank other lines when you need to.

Finally, we’ll look at the different types of items you’ll spend your gold on. This way you empower your character throughout the game, and spending your money wisely can make you an unstoppable killing machine.

Physical items

These are items that increase the physical AD – Attack Damage – of your character. They will increase AD, attack speed and critical hit potential of your character. If you’re playing a character that focuses on dealing physical damage, it’s very important that you spend some of your gold here.

Magic items

These items are designed to increase the power of your magic spells, make them deal more damage, reduce cooldowns, and more. Mages and support characters will most likely spend their gold here, but some tanks will as well.

Defense items

You guessed it – these items are basically Wild Rift armor. Increase your HP, armor and magic resist stats. Tanks and Warriors will need to spend their gold here, but there will be occasions where any character can benefit from adding some defense to their build.

League of Legends: Wild Rift boot list

Shoes are very important to every character in Wild Rift as they accelerate movement. They will also help you avoid skill shots. You’ll also want to think about purchasing Boot Enchantments, which add extra useful powers that can help you in a variety of situations.
