Nvidia RTX 3090 will see a significant update for 2022. The card is only one year old and was released in September 2020 as part of the company’s new Ampere architecture.
The RTX 3090 Ti could need a 1000W PSU

If you plan on grabbing the RTX 3090 Ti, expect it to use a lot of juice. A few weeks before the card was introduced to the market, a leaked list of MSI’s SUPRIM X RTX 3090 Ti model appeared on the network.
The spec sheet contained pretty much everything we could expect from the new gaming flagship, including its staggering power consumption. MSI reported the expected power consumption of the card at a staggering 480 watts – 130 watts more than the regular RTX 3090 requires. MSI’s spec sheet also recommended that users have a 1000W power supply, and the card would require three separate 8-pin connectors to function.
The screenshot above corresponds to the MSI format for their spec sheets and the 10,752 CUDA core count corresponds to what was already known. It’s also no surprise that MSI’s SUPRIM runs at 1900MHz peaks in boost mode, although it does show how returns diminish when “extreme mode” is only a mere 20MHz faster than regular “gaming and silent mode”.

This image turned out to be true when it appeared during a special Nvidia speech at CES 2022. The Founders Edition model follows a similar trend as the rest of the 30 series GPUs, although third-party vendors will undoubtedly create their own models with more colorful designs and different cooling methods.

RTX 3090 price
The Nvidia Founders Edition RTX 3090 version costs £ 1,399 in the UK and $ 1,499 in the US. Third party card versions, however, can be significantly more expensive, depending on how much they have been factory overclocked by the manufacturers.

RTX 3090 specs
As you’d expect from the Nvidia RTX 3000 family of BFGPUs, the RTX 3090 has the best specs, with a massive 24GB of memory, like the outgoing Nvidia RTX Titan, and a huge number of CUDA cores. Nvidia has yet to release all of the RTX 3090 specs, such as memory speed and memory bandwidth, but below I have summarized the key specifications they announced.

Despite the price being much closer to the RTX 2080 Ti, Nvidia has listed the RTX 3090 as a replacement for the RTX Titan rather than the 2080 Ti. Previously, Nvidia Titan GPUs weren’t really classified as consumer graphics cards. They used the same architecture as their GeForce sibling, but were intended for professional content creation, not just gaming. For the RTX 3090, however, Nvidia left the Tytan name behind and created a new tier 90 at the very top of its RTX 3000 family, no doubt hoping to convince die-hard enthusiasts to shell out a little more cash, I got the latest and greatest.
The RTX 3090 also comes with second-generation ray tracing cores and third-generation Tensor cores to improve ray tracing and DLSS performance. Nvidia says their RTX 3000 series will be able to offer up to twice the ray tracing performance compared to the previous generation, although so far they have only released data showing the combined ray tracing and DLSS performance of each card as opposed to their raw ray tracing speed . As a result, it’s probably best to take this number with a pinch of salt until the right points of reference begin to emerge. Either way, the RTX 3090 is sure to be much faster than the RTX 2080 Ti. So much is certain at this point.
This graph shows how Ampere’s ray tracing performance compares to Turing as a whole, but the numbers aren’t particularly useful.
As Nvidia noted at the launch of the RTX 3000 series, the RTX 3090 is the first consumer graphics card that can play 8K games. This is a resolution of 7680×4320, which is four times more pixels than 4K. At the moment, 8K gaming monitors don’t really exist yet. Instead, we’re just starting to see the upcoming 8K TVs, and even then the cheapest one will get you at least £ 3,000 / $ 3,000 odd. As a result, you’re going to need a hell of a lot of money if you’re really going to make the most of what the RTX 3090 is capable of when it comes to raw gaming performance.
At the moment, Nvidia is promising 60fps speeds in 8K on the RTX 3090 and has released the chart below to show what to expect. As you can see below, some games like Control, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, and even Death Stranding will be largely unplayable in 8K without the help of Nvidia’s DLSS technology.
The good news is that Nvidia is developing a special DLSS 8K Ultra Performance mode for the RTX 3090, which will further speed up its DLSS performance in supported games. As of this writing, these games include Boundary, Bright Memory: Infinite, Control, Death Stranding, Justice, Minecraft, Ready Or Note, Scavengers, Watch Dogs Legion, and Wolfenstein: Youngblood, but it is currently unknown if more will follow in their footsteps games (and how soon we can expect them to receive support).
Nvidia has revealed that its RTX 3090 Ti will have 40 teraflops of shader, 78 teraflops of RT, and 320 teraflops of tensors. By comparison, the standard RTX 3090 has 36 teraflops of shading, an increase of 10.5 percent. Meanwhile, there is an increase of about 12% compared to the 69 RT teraflops of the RTX 3090 model. Similarly, the tensor teraflops achieved an 11.6% increase.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti was announced at Computex 2021 along with the RTX 3070 Ti. It is advertised as twice as fast as the GTX 1080 Ti in terms of rasterization performance, and should outperform the RTX 3080 with an additional 2GB of VRAM, more CUDA cores, more RT cores, more Tensor cores, and higher TDP. It is also about $ 500 more than the RTX 3080 before any common scalping and gouging.
If you managed to get one of these cards on your first day, you undoubtedly had quick reflexes. If you only see the “Unavailable” badges now, you’ll have to do a little more manual work. You can always check the availability of the RTX 3080 Ti on the NVIDIA website, but you should also see purchase opportunities from major retailers.
Best Buy currently has card auctions from NVIDIA (FE), EVGA, Gigabyte, MSI, and ASUS, although none are available at the time of writing. Amazon has a few cards on the list, although they all have prices well above the reasonable prices. B&H and Newegg are also retailers where you can find goods.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
NVIDIA has improved some key RTX 3080 specs for the Ti version, making it a more powerful alternative at a much higher price point.

The NVIDIA RTX 3080 graphics processor was the first 30 series card that could be downloaded from NVIDIA. It’s now officially released at around $ 700, although it’s already sold out pretty much everywhere. If you haven’t managed to get your hands on the first wave of cards, don’t worry. You can check availability on the NVIDIA website or go to individual resellers.
Best Buy currently has RTX 3080 options from NVIDIA (Founders Edition), ASUS, EVGA, MSI, PNY, and Gigabyte, although the stocks have been wiped out.
Amazon has plenty of RTX 3080 offerings from PNY, Zotac, MSI, EVGA, Gigabyte, and ASUS, although the stocks here are either sold out or much higher than they should be at the time of writing. You can register for notifications by clicking on the individual GPU pages.
Walmart has a lot of RTX 3080 GPUs coming in and out of the auction, although all of them are at elevated prices, if available at all.
If you shop at Newegg and can’t find standalone GPUs, it’s because most of them have been ported to Newegg “Shuffle”. This event allows you to select the products that interest you, ending with hopefully you will be attracted to purchase the product in question. Shuffling is done on a regular basis, so be sure to check back often.
The NVIDIA RTX 3080 is positioned as an option for PC enthusiasts looking for a consistent frame rate at 4K resolution. Our tests on the 1440p show that the RTX 3080 provides approximately a 15% to 70% increase in performance compared to the RTX 2080. In 4K, performance is almost twice as high in some games as compared to the RTX 2080.

4K Or 1440p Gaming

The leak comes from the QuasarZone forums (via Harukze5719) that have released preliminary details about the flagship next-generation EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti KINGPIN graphics card. We expect AIB to go all out with their flagship designs with the NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti, and it looks like the Ti will really push things to the extreme.
RTX 3090 Ti specs
Needless to say, the new RTX 3090 Ti will have specification upgrades over the original, but under its cover there are some notable differences. For starters, the GPU GA102 cards has 10,752 CUDA cores, 256 more than the base model. The new Nvidia flagship also has a new memory configuration, using 12 2 GB modules instead of 24 1 GB chips.
Speaking of VRAM, the RTX 3090 includes 24GB of faster Micron GDDR6X memory, with speeds reaching 21Gb / s. The base and supercharged GPU clock speed is 1560 MHz and 1860 MHz, while the specification disclosed indicates that the MSI Suprim X variant can reach speeds up to 1900 MHz.
The MSI specs table also suggests the GPU is bold in terms of power as it gives 480W TDP. In addition, the company seemingly recommends using a 1000 W power supply, connected with three 8-pin connectors. It’s worth noting that the Non-Ti RTX 3090 requires an 850W PSU, so it’s worth keeping that in mind if you’re betting on a simple switch.
RTX 3090 Ti benchmarks
We haven’t seen any official or leaked benchmarks for the RTX 3090 Ti yet, but Nvidia says its GPU is equipped with 40 teraflops shaders, 78 teraflops ray tracing, and 320 tensor teraflops. These specs should outstrip the 4K capabilities of the original RTX 3090, which could help enthusiasts to increase FPS on the latest 8K games.
Of course, we’ll have to wait for some testing before we know how much the RTX 3090 Ti is an improvement over the original. While it’s safe to say the card will rank among the best, solid stats and numbers will help you figure out whether it’s worth upgrading your hardware with the new GPU.

The leak comes from the QuasarZone forums (via Harukze5719) that have released preliminary details about the flagship next-generation EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti KINGPIN graphics card. We expect AIB to go all out with their flagship designs with the NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti, and it looks like the Ti will really push things to the extreme.
It was stated that the EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti KINGPIN will feature a completely new PCB and shield design compared to the existing variant. It also means that the power circuits and connectors have also been modified. A forum member reveals that EVGA has moved from triple 8-pin to dual 12-pin (Gen 5 standard). We know from previous leaks that each 12-pin connector will consume up to 600 W of power, which is (theoretically max.) 1200 W from the plugs alone and an additional 75 W from the PCIe interface. This would certainly require a lot of cooling and therefore the cover was changed, so we can probably expect it to be much more durable than the already massive KINGPIN construction.

Other details suggest that the card will have a very high price tag compared to existing custom NVIDIA RTX 3090 models, and EVGA (and most likely other AIBs as well) will likely end production of existing RTX 3090 graphics cards. Although the board has been changed, EVGA is said to still fine-tunes the card, so a KINGPIN model release is not expected until at least March 2022. The PCB change also means existing Hydro Copper waterblocks will not be compatible with the new card, meaning users planning to upgrade to a “Ti” model they will have to purchase completely new water blocks.
“Alleged” NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti specifications
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is expected to be a Titan-class card again. In terms of specs, the 3090 Ti is expected to shake the full GA102 GPU core with 10752 cores and 24GB of GDDR6X memory. The memory will be clocked faster thanks to the improved matrices from Micron, which will increase the speed above 20 Gb / s. Prices may stay the same at $ 1,499 (MSRP), but overall we expect a slight improvement of $ 5.
Earlier rumor also said that the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card will have a TGP of over 400W. That’s 50W more than the current 3090, meaning we can be looking at faster GPU and VRAM clocking.
There have also been rumors of a brand new power connector that will be available in MicroFit format but won’t look like an existing connector. The new 16-pin connector will be PCIe Gen 5.0 ready and will provide some current stability for the next-generation protocol to be introduced on the flagship card.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 is a force to be reckoned with. It takes the throne of the fastest PC gaming graphics card and nothing comes close to it. It’s surprisingly much faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, which is its Turing-based predecessor, but just being fast isn’t enough for a card of this scale or price. GeForce RTX 3090 includes more cores, more than 2x more memory, higher performance, and also has ray tracing cores and next-gen tensor that make it a truly next-gen graphics card.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Graphics Card Cooling & Design- Next-Gen NVTTM Founders Edition Design
NVIDIA has developed one of its best and most powerful Founders Edition coolers to date for GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards. NVIDIA explained that higher performance requires a new form of cooling and as such has developed a unique cooling solution for its next-generation cards that will keep GPUs cool while keeping silence thanks to the use of several new and existing technologies.
The Founders Edition cooling uses an all-aluminum heat sink that uses a hybrid steam chamber with double-sided axial fans. The cooler heatsink has a nanocarbon coating and should be really good at keeping the temperature under control.
