The Sims 4 Realm of Magic

As the name suggests, The Sims 4 Realm of Magic is a bundle that focuses almost exclusively on spells and magical interactions for your Sims. Overall, it can be found for 19.00 at its regular price, but it often goes on sale like any other supplement.

Besides, the package itself is very well optimized and shouldn’t even increase the temperature of the computer after installation. You can either create a normal Sim to cast spells or have an existing Sim learn to use spells.

To create a spellcasting Sim, simply go to Create A Sim and select the Spellcaster option. In the same way you can choose whether your Sim will be an alien, a vampire, or an ordinary human, for example.

Becoming a wizard with an existing Sim is also very easy. You have to make them travel to Glimmerbook and find a portal that will take you to Magic Realms.

There you will have to find one of the three wise wizards who have runes over their heads. When asked to help become a wizard, they will require you to find seven purple orbs in the Magic Realms.

It’s very simple, and when your Sim completes the quest, they will perform an Ascension Ritual to turn their Sim into a wizard. Now just learn to use magic and buy your accessories!

If you don’t take the Character Creation Quiz in Story Mode and are out of luck with randomly generated questions, your starting Sim CAS will be an ordinary human.

Contents

Explore the Neighborhood – An unreal world awaits your Sim, and when you stumble upon a secret portal, mystical discoveries await you at every turn. Interact with your friends, cast spells on the Sims around you, and make potions for your friends and foes.

Learn Crafts – Learn classic science, get wizards to train your Sim, and become a wizard by completing the quest. Collect and cast spells to have Sims fight, conjure food, and even turn others into items. Create drinking potions to fall in love with Sims, remove unwanted curses, or live forever!

Get a real familiar – an ethereal familiar – or protector – will help your Sim become the Sorcerer they were destined to be. Summon a dragon, fairy or familiar that best suits your Sim’s personality as your personal guardian and give them a creative name.

Dress up for Supernatural Success – Experience the magic with outfits to match your Sim. The over-the-top costume is ready for use in the cauldron, and the subdued outfit is perfect for casting new spells. Collect wands and brooms to complete the look, then decorate rooms with enchanting items.

New features

World and neighborhoods

The pack includes a new world called Glimmerbrook, a residential mountain forest world. It also includes a portal to the separate, fantasy-style floating district of The Magic Realm, where magical NPCs live.

Spellcasters

A new life state is introduced – the spell caster. They are largely similar to the witches from previous games in that they can learn magic spells and brew potions. Much like vampires in The Sims 4, mages have different skills and abilities that they can unlock as they progress through the rank system. They are also the first occultist in The Sims 4 to not have a secondary form.

Familiars

Wizards can bind an unlimited number of familiars such as dragons, phoenixes, or with cats and dogs, dogs and cats. However, only one familar may be summoned at a time.

Technically speaking, Wizards are a completely separate life state from vanilla “human” Sims, although the degree of humanity (or inhumanity) in your magical Sim’s appearance is up to you.

Where to find the Sages and become a Spellcaster in The Sims 4 Realm of Magic

The Realm of Magic consists of a series of four islands seemingly floating in the void of extra-dimensional space. You can travel between them using portals like the one that brought you here from Glimmerbrook.

Fortunately, however, if this is your first trip here and you just want to become a Sorcerer, you are now on the right island: the portal from Glimmerbrook places you in a courtyard in front of the imposing mansion known as Magic HQ.

Go inside and you will find three sages: L. Faba, the sage of malicious magic; Simeon Silversweater, Sage of Practical Magic; and Morgyn Ember, the Sage of Unbridled Magic.

The Sages are the only ones who can bestow magical powers on other Sims during a ritual known as the Ritual of Ascension. To make these sages easier to see, each of them has a brightly colored rune hovering above their heads, corresponding to the school of magic they represent.

Introduce yourself to any of the three wise men. Once you get to know each other, you can click on them and select the Friendly Social Interaction “Ask me how to use magic”. Another popup message will allow you to choose between starting the task right away or saving it for later.

Accepting a quest starts a (very forgiving) timer, so make sure your Sim’s needs – especially Energy – are high before you begin.

Your mission, once you choose to accept it, is to collect the seven magical pollen and give them to the Magi. To do this, you will receive a Focus Moodlet called Point View, which allows you to see and retrieve molecules.

Mote Sight is only active for eight in-game hours before it stops working. Fortunately, there are plenty of magical crumbs throughout the Realm of Magic, especially around the Magic Headquarters.

Appearing to be purple-blue orbs with a swirling pink core, they can be found on almost every path on the main island and are quite hard to miss.

How to turn a Spellcaster back into a human in The Sims 4

Of course, your Sim may not want to be a Sorcerer forever. (Admittedly, we can’t imagine why you don’t want this: being a Sorcerer is super cool and basically has no downsides. But I’m not here to judge!)

Here’s how to undo the effects of your magical initiation. Go to the Realm of Magic and find any sage. If you haven’t done so already, introduce yourself to them, then click on them and select “Ask for a Break-up Ritual” from the Magic Community category.

The Sage will perform a slightly gloomy (but still pretty cool looking) spell that will bring out your magical powers from you, and you’ll get a popup telling you that your Sim is no longer a wizard.

You can still use the portals to travel to and from Glimmerbrook and the Wonderland, as well as participate in non-magical activities on offer there (including cooking in a macaroni and cheese cauldron, so don’t worry!).

And of course, you can always start the whole process over if you change your mind.

We have pages for the latest game pack, Journey to Batuu, with information on how to join the Resistance, First Order or Rogues and get your own Lightsaber. Our The Sims 4 cheats will help you quickly travel for all sorts of in-game bonuses. In the meantime, if you have extensions, we can help with Crafting in Eko Living, Tiny Living, how to become a Mermaid, how to become a Sorcerer, and University and Meritorious Degrees. In June 2020, we also saw free ladders in The Sims 4.

of magic and the mundane

What impressed me the most about The Sims 4: Realm of Magic is its potential longevity compared to other add-ons. While the emphasis on storyline in The Sims 4: StrangerVille was great to watch back then, and sparked a lot of nostalgia for the narrative in previous Sims games, I’ll admit I didn’t come back to recreate it.

My Sim became a lonely old woman, brewing potions so gross that even Snape would choke

Realm of Magic doesn’t have enough of the storyline that die-hard Potter fans will likely be hoping for, and as the pre-release trailers suggested, teasing as they made an overarching story about the Magic Kingdom and the Wise Men holding them together. Instead, it chooses small fetch missions and side missions with marking. With the plethora of new items, clothes and spells on offer, however, it’s easy to immerse yourself in the life of witches and wizards – there are plenty of opportunities to role-play. For me, it meant my Sim became a total loner, living the life of a neighbour’s old lady, surrounded by herbs and cats and brewing potions so gross that even Snape would choke.

Oddly enough, all of this magical stuff permeates your Sims’ daily lives much more consistently than content from StrangerVille or Vacation Packages. It may seem shocking at first when two characters fight a Battle for Hogwarts-style duel in the middle of the Magic Kingdom, surrounded by both sorcerers and Muggles, but you’ll soon be wondering how you got along without being able to summon a bowl of chili from the air.

When Kelly isn’t busy juggling ads on the N Net, she also enjoys teasing the editorial team to let her write about the games. She can often be found at her desk, slowly deafening herself, listening to k-pops at an unpleasant volume while delving into the latest aesthetically pleasing indie game.

Basically, there are three types of spells: Practical, Mischievous, and Untamed. Practical ones are used for your Sims’ daily affairs, mischievous are used to make fun of others, and untamed are considered the worst.

Realm of Magic took my life for a few days and I am still actively playing the Sim I created for this pack on a daily basis. Spells and potions are so priceless he’ll probably be my main Sim for a while. I personally love this bundle and highly recommend taking it!

There is a lot of content and creative potential in Realm of Magic, which is further proof that while The Sims 5 may be in some dark state of development, you can still have fun with The Sims 4. Harry Potter fans will be excited that Sims can now explore the intertwining of magic and everyday life, and longtime players now have even more things to keep in the game.

At first glance, Realm of Magic may seem sterile. However, all of this is an appearance as the real game begins in the mystical new realm of Glimmerbrook. All in all, The Sims 4: Realm of Magic is a lot of fun. With tons of newly added features that will take your Sims game to the next level, and tons of different new avenues to experience, this game pack doesn’t disappoint.

The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack is an extensive fantasy content pack for Sim fanatics, packed with intriguing reasons to revisit.

Those who were hoping for a similar variety of styles as in the vampire gameplay pack, or at least for simulations such as in the famous Werde expansion, are being deceived here.

In Progress & Unscored

If you’re in the mood for more occultism in The Sims 4, it’s a decent way to satisfy that desire, considering Vampires is one of the few notable offerings in this section since 2015.

For a bundle of Realm of Magic games, it adds a lot to the game and is quite an interesting and enjoyable bundle. It may not be for everyone as some. This is a new low for the series and overall DLC EA practice.

You already have the functionality of this “game pack” in your game. This is a new low in the series and overall EA DLC practice.

You already have the functionality of this “game pack” in your game, it’s called * Cheat Console * and you can access it by pressing ALT + SHIFT + C. Of course, there are no knotty wooden furniture that have been carried over from the Sims-3 Store, but as always, you can already get it as a mod.

Just type “testingcheats true” and you’ll be able to magically change your surroundings, just without the only animation to show your sim casting a spell. They even added a “set head” code as “spell” (after the aforementioned “test cheats”, Shift + click on any item to get this effect). Potions have fantastic effects such as “maximum themes” or use the “get to work” script that allows random people to fight each other as you patrol the area as a cop.

What you don’t have when you use the cheats are tons of new bugs and glitches, useless huge UI additions along the way, and a new 5 lot neighborhood featuring the three laziest and unfinished buildings I’ve ever seen since this series started in 1998.

A “land of magic”, as interesting as it can look in a trailer, can be renamed “land of void” because there is nothing that cannot be found elsewhere or done elsewhere without having to travel the entire distance. There are * two * new barely used harvest items in a magical alchemy bundle: TWO.

Of course, the AI hasn’t been tweaked in the slightest, especially when it comes to NPCs who should respond somehow – you’ve seen this kind of no response in a pack of vampires before, so whatever you’re looking for, it won’t come from there. The level system is an invented set of mostly useless skills that remove the last consequences or challenges. In fact, you might just stop playing this game because you are only cheating anyway. Luckily, the game now crashes regularly, so you won’t even have to * stop * playing on your own.

It would still be too generous to call this product an insult. An insult requires at least a minimum of effort. … Increase

Create-A-Sim and Build Mode

As always with the Create a Sim items in the Game Pack, there is nothing shocking about what it contains. There are some really cool items, including more natural looking afro hairstyles and some cute new wardrobe items.

The sad thing is that there is no new content for kids in the kit which I know will disappoint a lot of people. In my opinion, however, the new items in the build mode completely compensate for this.

The build mode items in Realm of Magic are truly amazing. Not only are they perfect for this spooky time of year, they really fit well with a lot of Vampire content.

That being said, most of them aren’t just something you’ll be using in your scary builds. There are some lovely everyday items including countertops and islands, artwork, and overall decor.

Summary

The Sims 4 Realm of Magic is definitely not a perfect bundle. Oddly, characters like Bella Goth can be seen in the Magic Dimension flying on brooms, even though they’re not exactly canonically magical, and you can definitely do more in Glimmerbrook, which only has one commercial batch.

Personally, I don’t like the fancy style of The Sims – I always prefer a more realistic game, but I still enjoy Realm of Magic a lot.

I can’t say that I will only play Glimmerbrook as I play almost exclusively Sulani right now, but I definitely enjoy flying on a broomstick, a friend and dueling with my enemies.

YouTube video

Considering this is a gameplay pack, not an add-on, there is actually a decent amount of new gameplay to discover – arguably the most new gameplay experience we’ve ever extracted from a Sims 4 gameplay pack.

Is it worth the money? Absolutely. There is more meat in Realm of Magic than, say, Strangerville, and there are many more ways to recreate and create truly immersive stories and worlds. Just don’t forget that this is a game pack, not an add-on!
