While EA has yet to name The Sims 5, we know that – after seven long years – the publisher has announced that the next generation of The Sims franchise is in development.
You may have squeezed every possible content out of the well-supported and community-loved The Sims 4, but soon you won’t have to live and die (practically) in the smash hit simulation game of 2014 for much longer. As always, the next game will be developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts, and will likely take some of the franchise’s evolutions introduced in The Sims 4 even further.
A lot of the information we have about the game at the moment is rumors. But rumors persist that The Sims 5 is rumored to be cloud-based and even include an all-new multiplayer component. Considering we’ve even seen a live concert in The Sims 4, it’s obvious that The Sims 5 will be more connected to its community than ever before.

When is The SIMS 5 Release Date?
There is no specific announcement regarding a release date for SIMS 5 as of now, but we anticipate it will most likely be released in 2021. As 2020 is the simulator series and its 20th anniversary, there will likely be an announcement for a release date. Although there is also a small chance of a release in late 2020.
SIMS 5 Release Date Worldwide
Currently, the release date of SIMS 5 is still unknown, but it will be better with the latest technology. One of the developers, Wilson, said that “there are new generations of games,” but that doesn’t mean The SIMS 5 of course. It’s been a long time since the release of SIMS 4, SIMS 3 and SIMS 2, and people are looking for improved versions of the series. CEO Andrew Wilson also confirmed SIMS 5 during the third quarter of Electronic Art’s fiscal year.
Is EA working on Sims 5?
Unfortunately, the developers of Electronic Arts and Maxis are still silent about their official plans for the next game. This may mean that they still have more content to play in The SIMS 4. But we’re sure that’s when game development started.
The development cost of SIMS 5 is very high compared to the previous game. According to some gaming experts, the total cost will be around $ 40 to $ 50 million. This time, the company will come up with something unexpected, and new technologies will cost more, which is why the cost will be so high.
Now, game development could be impacted due to COVID-19 as many countries are in lockdown and EA is already releasing work from home to its employees.

The Sims 5 release date prediction
As it stands, the game apparently isn’t that far advanced at all, and NME reports that The Sims 5 is currently in a “concept phase”. With that in mind, we probably shouldn’t expect to see The Sims 5 for a few more years – we’d predict not until at least 2023.
Remember that the chasm between previous The Sims iterations was usually long as well. The Sims 3 was released in 2009, after which The Sims 4 was released in 2014. This means that this is the longest time without a new main Sims game.
However, it’s understandable that The Sims 4 is still going through its lifecycle and EA is not over with it yet.
Cottage Living is the latest expansion for The Sims 4, released in July 2021, and it’s possible that EA and Maxis will still release some additional content packs for the game, though there seem to be fewer places to visit.
It’s worth noting, however, that EA continued to release expansions for The Sims 3 until October 2013, even after it announced The Sims 4 in May 2013 with the September 2014 release. So, while continuing to release expansions is a sign that EA He’s not done with The Sims 4 yet, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t think about The Sims 5 at all.
The Sims 5: what can we expect from gameplay?
There are currently no trailers for The Sims 5, so we can only speculate on what the next generation of The Sims will bring us.
In terms of gameplay, we can probably expect The Sims 5 to play much like its previous iterations, no matter what it ultimately looks like.
You have daily needs and changing emotions that you need to deal with that you fill and control by carrying out specific activities such as eating and, of course, socializing with people as they pass your home.
The gameplay of The Sims has remained relatively unchanged throughout its lifetime, with a few new additions and quality-of-life updates added from time to time. It will be interesting to see if The Sims 5 brings a new dimension to the game, perhaps even being able to take direct third-person control of your Sim, as opposed to the top view of clicking and moving.
It is possible that if the game follows the online multiplayer route, as reports have suggested, we may see more significant changes to the gameplay than in previous releases.
The Sims 5 multiplayer rumors, news and more
EA continues to improve The Sims 4
Following the release of The Sims 4: Cottage Living, EA Maxis did not disclose exactly what his future plans for The Sims 4 would look like, but the developer stated in a recent blog post that his roadmap “is still focused on improving the content that is on game “and did not completely reject the idea of future expansions, which could include” werewolves, fairies and zombies”.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t bode particularly well for the Sims 5 release anytime soon, and we’ll likely be lucky to get our hands on it by 2023. The Sims 4 has been in development for over three years, so it makes sense that EA In the meantime, Maxis continues to keep The Sims 4 running, making improvements for those who’ve already spent their hard-earned money on the base game, kits, game packs, and add-ons.
No EA Play Live 2021 and Gamescom show
EA held the EA Play Live 2021 demo on July 22, but The Sims 5 did not arrive as fans had hoped. Considering that the latest expansion pack for the Sims 4 game, Cottage Living, has just been released, closing the Summer of Sims roadmap, that’s probably not too surprising.
EA also attended the all-digital Gamescom 2021 in August, but the game wasn’t there either. We imagine this could be EA Play Live 2022 before we hear more about the next generation of The Sims.
The Sims Sessions – sneak peak at what’s to come?
In May, June, and July 2021, EA hosted the Sim Summer, offering updates, events, and a new expansion, Cottage Life, to The Sims 4. The event even hosted an in-game music festival called Sims Sessions, where the ownership of The Sims 4 was all it took to join the fun. While the event was something of a mixed bag, we can’t help but wonder if it’s a sign of what’s to come for The Sims franchise.
In 2020, Andrew Wilson mentioned that the elements of “social interaction and competition” are becoming “part of the ongoing Sims experience for years to come,” and recently EA’s Laura Miele said EA wants to “build on tools with which people they can play. ” live together. ”This collaborative event, with real artists and the TikTok hashtag outside of the game, certainly had elements of the social component EA seems to be leaning towards.
Tease the future?
EA seems to have teased The Sims 5. Speaking to Geoff Keighley at VentureBeat GamesBeat Summit 2021, EA Studio Director Laura Miele confirmed a roundabout confirmation that the “next generation” of The Sims franchise is in the making, with apparent emphasis on the “fertile ground” of social and internet elements.
“We will be relying on the tools people can play with life – that’s our brand, simulation – and the idea that people can play life together,” she said.
“We had The Sims Online which came out in 2002, which I can’t believe, and I think we were definitely ahead of our time.
“I think 20 years later we learned a lot about how players interact, what motivates players and how players can connect as a collaborative, so as you can imagine when we think about the next generation of The Sims, it’s very important for us to have the best tools, the greatest flexibility, and for players to really expand their creativity remix items and objects in the world.
– And then do it together. I think this is one of our greatest The Sims opportunities – the social element we need to bring to this brand and this series. The team is hard at work on the next generation of this experience.”
Components for a multiplayer game
The multiplayer mode added to The Sims is being discussed on the official Reddit website and has, for the most part, been met with indifference. It’s possible that people have been expecting something like The Sims 4 Online Social Features that allow you to share your creations online in-game.
Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson said in January 2020 that another game in the Sims franchise could include single-player and multiplayer elements. He added that The Sims Online items may appear in the next title.
“As Maxis is still thinking about The Sims for the next generation – on different platforms in the cloud world – you should imagine that while we always stay true to our themes of inspiration, escape, creation and self-improvement, it’s the concept of social interaction and competition – such as things, that were actually present in The Sims Online many, many years ago – that will begin to become part of the ongoing Sims experience for years to come, ”Wilson said on The Sims. Community page.
Then he said, “We are very excited. This is a game that really has no competition in its category when it comes to delivering and fulfilling these motivations for players, and we believe this is a great opportunity for us to develop for many, many years to come.”
The Sims with its multiplayer components can be a huge selling point for fans of the series. While playing The Sims, there were many occasions when we wanted to start a new household in the game and for friends to join in to impersonate their characters and play together while having a virtual adventure in co-op.
This feature was used in The Sims 2 on PS2 consoles with great effect, allowing two players to create a character and live together in the same house, sharing the same screen; it was great.
Will The Sims 5 appear on console?
There is no specific information about The Sims 5 at the moment, but we can probably expect it to come to PS5 and Xbox Series X in the course of its life – which is usually long if previous Sims games are something you can use go through.
Historically, the Sims games become available on the PC, and then are slightly reworked for consoles and other systems. We would expect that to be the case for The Sims 5. The Sims 4 was released for PC in 2014 and will only be available for consoles in 2017, so be prepared for a significant loophole when it comes to porting the PC version to consoles.
What about extensions and game bundles?
Frequent expansion packs can help extend the life of any Sims game by giving it a new lease of life. The Sims 3 enjoyed 11 expansions, all of which added new features – such as pets or the University Life expansion – and helped keep the game fresh and powerful.
Currently, The Sims 4 has over 10 expansions and even more Game Packs and Stuffers. The point is, The Sims 5 will almost certainly get the same treatment and will be constantly updated for its long expected lifespan.
