BIOS (Basic Input / Output System) performs hardware initialization and speeds up processes during the boot process. So we can try updating our BIOS to see if that fixes the problem of missing this graphics card in Device Manager on Windows 10/8/7.

Nvidia Graphics Cards Not Detected [SOLVED]

All of the fixes below work on Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. You may not need to try all of them; just scroll down the list until your graphics card shows up in Device Manager issue.

If you’ve recently purchased a new graphics card for your PC, there’s a good chance it’s hidden. So we may have to find out. Here’s a quick summary:

Fix 2: Update your graphics driver

The problem with an undetected graphics card can occur if you are using the wrong graphics driver or it is out of date. So you should update your graphics driver to see if that fixes your problem. If you don’t have the time, patience, or skill to manually update your driver, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy.

Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the appropriate drivers for it. You don’t need to know exactly what system is running on your computer, you don’t have to worry about a bad driver you want to download, and you don’t have to worry about making a mistake during installation. Driver Easy can handle it all.

Drivers can be updated automatically with the free or professional version of Driver Easy. But in the Pro version, it only takes 2 clicks (and you’ll get full support and a 30-day money-back guarantee):

2) Run Driver Easy and click the Scan Now button. Driver Easy will scan your computer and detect driver problems.

3) Click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of ALL drivers that are missing or out of date on your system (this requires the Pro version – you will be prompted to update after clicking Update All).

You can also click Update to do it for free if you want, but it’s partially manual.

4) Restart the computer, then check if the problem with the undetected graphics card is resolved. If so, congratulations! But if the problem persists, go to hotfix 3 below.

The good news, however, is that it is not impossible to land your chosen card. Despite these challenges, some enthusiasts have managed to improve their designs with the latest and greatest graphics technology. The bad news: It will take more time than you might expect, a bit smarter – and maybe even quick actions and clever moves.

Nvidia RTX 30 series graphics cards

Nvidia described the demand for its latest RTX 30 series of graphics cards as “unprecedented”. As of September 2020, seven different cards have joined the RTX 30 line with suggested prices ranging from $ 329 to $ 400,500.

Priced at around $ 700, the RTX 3080 is the perfect choice for most people, meeting the needs of everyone except the most die-hard gaming enthusiast. The $ 400 RTX 3060 Ti is the perfect choice for mid-range and budget PCs, delivering great performance at 1080p, but struggling to move to 4K .

Nvidia’s graphics cards also have excellent software features and developer support that can benefit players who stream or record their gameplay on YouTube and Twitch. Nvidia’s exclusive DLSS software helps improve performance in certain games by using artificial intelligence to enhance visual effects.

AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards

AMD graphics cards are not as popular as Nvidia, but they are powerful and generally cheaper than their RTX counterparts. AMD cards gain additional performance gains when paired with AMD processors that compete with Intel as the most popular gaming processors and are generally more cost-effective.

At $ 649, the AMD Radeon 6800XT offers comparable performance to the RTX 3080 for $ 50 less, while the $ 579 AMD RX 6800 is parallel to the $ 599 RTX 3070ti. The $ 999 Radeon RX 6900XT outperforms the 400 500 RTX 3090 in some games, but AMD cards struggle with some newer features like ray tracing lighting and AI-based resolution scaling.

Some newly released games with these features are likely to perform slightly better on Nvidia hardware until AMD develops its own performance enhancement solutions. On the other hand, some popular titles such as “Borderlands 3” perform better on AMD devices, so performance differences will vary depending on the games selected.

Keep Track of Inventory at Local Retailers

Physical storefronts have several advantages over their digital counterparts when it comes to finding an available graphics card. The basic one is limited competition. Anyone can shop on Amazon; not everyone can visit the local microcenter. (Pro tip: Micro Center, if you live where the chain has stores, is better than most retailers when it comes to nailing your GPU in person.) Why compete with cryptocurrency miners, scalpers, bots, and anyone else looking to buy a new one graphics card online can you find the same product on the store shelf?

Here are some tips for purchasing a new graphics card from your local electronics store:

Sometimes it works “nice”. Be polite to the store staff. They are not responsible for the chip shortage, they do not decide to replenish graphics cards, and in many cases have limited opportunities to help people get the products they want. But they will be more likely to use what they have to move around if you are kind to them than if you are rude. Practice the golden rule.

Please call to ask on which days of the week certain products are usually refilled. Stores often receive new shipments of certain types of equipment or equipment according to a predictable schedule. (Or at least as predictable as possible in the face of today’s global sourcing problems.) Picking up the phone, politely requesting a restocking of graphics cards, and scheduling a visit to that schedule can maximize your chances of getting your new GPU as-is it is on the shelves.

Use online tools to monitor your in-store inventory. Retailers often say they have the product in stock at a local store on their websites, and even if they don’t, services like BrickSeek can often find this information for you. These methods aren’t foolproof – we don’t think of any store whose inventory systems offer the latest updates – but they can be useful.

Play the Lottery: Hope to Get Lucky With the Newegg Shuffle

Newegg set out to fix his graphics card problem by taking a page from the sneaker industry guide: Lotteries. You may think this means you can take part in the win of your new graphics card, but it’s not that simple. Instead, you have the chance to buy a new GPU, much like the sneakerheads were hoping to get the latest retail lows, rather than having to pay resale prices.

This method is determined by luck, but to some extent there are others on this list as well. Newegg is just clearer. Unfortunately, in recent Newegg Shuffles there was a shortage of graphics cards. Now it’s just lucky: you have to hope you’re lucky to participate in the Newegg Shuffle offering graphics cards, and then you have to hope you’re lucky to win. May the chances always be on your side.

One possible solution is to purchase a used GPU of comparable power to what you are looking for, either from the previous generation of the same manufacturer or from a competitor. This works best in the mid-range, where higher-end GPUs will be thicker counterparts.

Cryptocurrency Miners

However, graphics cards tend to be even more difficult than other electronic products like cell phones and even processors. Another important reason for the increase in demand for GPUs in the last year is cryptocurrency mining, which is the process of using the power of a computer chip to put new tokens into circulation. Cryptocurrency mining often uses the processing power of the graphics card and therefore a mining platform can have multiple graphics cards that do not work on a desktop computer.

This has become a moot point for many general consumers. Unlike the GPUs used for gaming and general work, the GPUs used for mining are used up to the maximum processing limit. This means they have little or no resale value in the market being used. Nvidia suggested that in the future the company may re-introduce a graphics card made specifically for mining to keep them separate from consumer GPU products.

The Scalper Problem

Market scalpers are another important factor contributing to this problem. Scalpers buy items close to the retail price and then resell them at huge margins on websites like eBay. Every time manufacturers replenish new cards in the retail market, many are immediately redeemed by scalpers and resold at multiple of their original price. Many modern scalpers have bots that track new GPU inventories and can make a purchase before a human opens the product page.

Some retail stores have tried to limit scalping behavior by enforcing inventory limits of one item per person. If you can, you may even want to check out a physical retail store instead, as they are less likely to have stocks and be affected by scalping.

Best Nvidia Graphics Card under 200$

There is an excellent Nvidia graphics card at every price point, and the Sub-200 $ mark is no different. At this price point, the Nvidia GTX 1650 is the clear winner, delivering great performance in both gaming and rendering on a budget.

The GTX 1650 has 4 GB of GDDR5 VRAM, clocking at 2 GHz on a 128-bit bus and a bandwidth of 128 GB / s. This card is only 75W so it runs very quietly and stays nice and cool.

896 CUDA cores decently accelerate gaming and rendering, and the chip, which clocked at 1485 MHz Base and 1860 MHz Boost, will provide a smooth experience on a budget.

Benchmark List Performance Metrics

The performance indicators in the list cover different areas:

Nvidia graphics cards have a lot of technical features like shaders, CUDA cores, memory size and speed, core speed, overclocking, just to name a few.

The list may be longer, but what I want to introduce to you here is a quick and easy overview of Nvidia graphics cards in order of performance in the two most common use cases on this page.

Rendering and games.

I took the average performance of currently popular game benchmarks like Futuremark and gave it points based on the test score.

To find the most powerful Nvidia graphics cards in rendering, I took the average of the three most popular GPU rendering engines: Redshift, Octane, and Vray-RT and allocated points based on performance.

What you ultimately get from this list is an Nvidia graphics card comparison.

If you’ve recently purchased a new graphics card for your PC, there’s a good chance it’s hidden. So we may have to find out. Here’s a quick summary:

Solution 1: Buy Used, Last-Gen GPUs

One possible solution is to purchase a used GPU of comparable power to what you are looking for, either from the previous generation of the same manufacturer or from a competitor. This works best in the mid-range, where higher-end GPUs will be thicker counterparts.

The alternative GPUs in the market you are using, listed below, should provide a rough equivalent (give or take ~ 10 percent more or less) to these GPUs on your system. Try to buy as late as possible to avoid GPU end-of-life and to get better support for the latest games.

It should be noted that even these cards will be more expensive than usual as people use inflated prices to earn more selling in the secondary market. Even so, it’s definitely worth a look at ebay or Craigslist to see if you can find some good deals. EBay will have higher prices but will have better buyer protection. There is also a Hardware Replacement Subreddit.

Here are some useful replacements for Nvidia and AMD GPUs:

  • Replacement for Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060: RTX 2070, RTX 2060 Super, GTX 1660 Ti / RX 5700
  • Replacement for Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT: RTX 2080, RTX 2080 Super, GTX 1080 Ti / RX 5700 XT
  • Replacement for Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, RX 6800: RTX 2080 Ti
  • Replacement for Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 / AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT: Nvidia Titan RTX
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 / AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT replacement

Solution 2: Buy A Prebuilt PC

It may physically hurt for PC building enthusiasts (like us), but precompilation can be one of the best options these days. Companies like iBuyPower or CyberpowerPC buy their GPUs in bulk from vendors, so they are less affected by the GPU shortage and associated price increases, although it is still to be expected that some will emerge. This is a reversal of the norm – were it not for the lack of a GPU, buying a finished PC would be a little more expensive than building it yourself from the same / equivalent components.

If you are going to buy a prefabricated online gaming PC, we advise you to stick to specialized retailers such as iBuyPower or CyberpowerPC or possibly Origin. They offer the best performance for your money. Alienware and the like may look great, but tend to be overpriced for the components they ship with iBuyPower and Cyberpower should offer the best PC precompilations you can get on the market, both in terms of build quality and price.

Micro Center is almost the last major retailer of desktop hardware in the United States and remains relevant in helping deal with the GPU shortage. The way they do this is to lower GPU prices for those who buy a full PC from the Microcenter store. If you are buying a brand new computer and not just upgrading your existing computer, this is probably the safest way to save the biggest money. MicroCenter’s rebates in these situations tend to be about as close to the suggested retail price as possible. Just remember to call in advance and make sure that the microcenter you choose actually has the equipment you need in stock and is ready to discount it.For UK buyers, SCAN is a good counterpart to the full PC versions.

In addition to these PC gaming specialists, you can of course also buy ready-made gaming PCs straight from Amazon and Best Buy.
