Epic Games released its megahit game, Fortnite Battle Royale, on September 26, 2017. The game took off like a rocket and made people…

Is TV or monitor better for PS4?

Personally, I switched from using the TV on my PS4 to using the monitor. The difference was immediately noticeable. The games were much more responsive; the graphics seemed sharper and better. When it comes to refresh rate (FPS), we first need to think about something.

PS4 and Xbox are both refresh rate blocked. Most games only work at 30 FPS, and sometimes developers can push out 60 FPS. Most modern TVs have a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Does this mean that using anything above 60Hz on the console is too much?

Using a monitor that has a high refresh rate above 60fps won’t make a difference. Your game won’t run at 144 Hz just because your monitor can. You are always tied to the lowest common denominator. In this case, the console is the lowest common denominator.

That being said, the monitor still offers better response rates which has a big impact on your game. Also the image quality is sharper which I appreciate.

Epic Games added split-screen mode to Fortnite, a cool feature that allows two players to enjoy their Battle Royale madness from one console.

Tips for playing in split-screen

While it’s fun to jump into co-op on the couch, you won’t want to overlook the potential drawbacks. The biggest and most obvious problem is that it will cut your screen size in half. This makes teamwork and communication paramount as you will rely heavily on your teammate to let you know what they see. The split screen option displays only the channels in landscape orientation and cannot be switched back to portrait. This isn’t the worst thing in the world, but if you prefer to collaborate vertically, it may require some adjustments. As long as you are aware of these drawbacks, split-screen mode can be a lot of fun and is a great way to introduce your friends to Fortnite madness.
